Time to boycott CHML?

Scott Thompson is paid to voice an opinion which may or may not be that of the station. CHML still supports the Cats. When the lost the broadcast rights, they could of dropped them cold turkey. But They still report on the team and Rick Zamperin continues to tweet during games and hosts post game 5th Quarter show.

True enough TCHABS. I wonder if Scott Thompson thinks it would have made sense to move a stadium in a residential area to another residential area. Thinking this after reading this comment by Herman Turkstra who does live in the WH area.

Herman Turkstra: There were a group of us invited by the city in 2003 to look at that question. We spent three years examining it with the assistance of staff and consultants, and concluded that the appropriate use of that land was for housing to bring people to the core of the city, that a stadium was inappropriate for traffic, noise and adverse impacts. And that decision was sent on by us to the City Council. It was voted on by Council on three occasions. It is now a part of Hamilton's Official Plan that's sitting in front of the minister. Mayor Eisenberger voted for housing in Barton-Tiffany last June, along with all the other members of COuncil. It was a wise and prudent decision, because what the downtown needs is people living here, not projects that will have a very serious adverse impact on the neighbours.

This shows what kind of mayor Fast Freddie is. He flip flopped on WH demanding THF be built there when he had previously said WH should be for housing instead.

SMH. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, you (residents of Hamilton) DID elect him again, so...

I did NOT for for him.

You didn't personally, but enough people in Hamilton DID, and ya got what ya paid for. With about 36% voter turnout, only 18% +1 was needed to elect him. Pathetic, eh? It's almost as if the residents of Hamilton just don't care. Of course, Flip-Flop Freddy was probably the best of the worst compared to Bratina and Dianni(sp), and he's been pretty useless so far...

I think voter apathy is caused by the feeling that no matter who you vote for it would be a wrong choice.

Sad when so many have died protecting our right to vote that we take such a cavalier attitude towards it. Perhaps this is one of the reasons dictatorships happen?

Wow, does anybody still listen to that station or any other station on AM radio?

CKOC is the station my alarm clock fires up at 6 AM every morning. I like the classic hits and local news. In my car I use my satellite radio and would not listen to AM (other than for Ticat games).

mike: Wow! I used to listen to "OC the Busy Bee" when I lived in Hamilton until I left at the end of 1961. That and WKBW in Buffalo. CHML was a lot like CFRB in Toronto back then but I was more interested in listening to rock and roll. :rockin:

Sing along with Mike:

Hamilton's the hometown of the Ticats,
Oskee Wee Wee, eat 'em raw,

Sorry that's all I remember - see I did live through the sixties (because of my poor memory of them).

AM radio is great for talk, news and sports, terrible for music. I probably listen mostly AM now, mostly because music nowadays really sucks...

Probably shouldn't keep this thread going, apologies, but the Bayfront Park Amphitheatre in Miami is neat, something along these lines would be great at WH if a funding source could be found. Still the issue of the capping and the long term safety of this though:

I have dreams at night and I hear Perc Allen on the radio again. Ahhhhh Russtalgia!

Oski Wee Wee,

For many years, I had a cassette recording of Chuck Ealey's first game as a Tiger cat, called by Perc. I have since discarded it.

What I would give to hear it again!!!!!

No doubt about it, Perc Allen was the best ever. Conversely, Scott Thompson is the worst.
I said goodbye to CHML some time ago. I can't forgive Bill Kelly for all the air time he gave
to former mayor and CHML announcer, Bob Bratina. In fairness to Bratina, however, he did help
to secure Tim Horton Field when we ran out of all other options and were edging close to losing
our football team.
