After two games I’m convinced it’s time to bench Bo Levi Mitchell.
Let’s start Matthew Schultz; at least he got us a touchdown.
By the looks of it Bo got a hip pointer or anyways and will be out this week. So maybe we have a shot but maybe we’re looking at 0-3 Start?
Looked like a groin pull. I think he’s out a few games regardless. You’ll get your wish on Shiltz, just don’t get your hopes too high. He may look ok against Ottawa and Edmonton but don’t see him as a long term solution. If Bo can’t show even flashes of 2018 when he comes back, this team is going nowhere.
I look forward to seeing him pick up, despite very little prep, where he left off last night. My hopes won’t be too high, but I do think Shiltz is quite underrated, enough so that my hopes for TiCat success vs. MTL will not be less if Mitchell can’t play.
I think this forum has been full of hopes, too high, through the past 5 months. Is 5 seasons enough time to establish a trend?
Mitchell’s average, per game, passing efficiency ratings:
2018 Season - 101.24
2019 Season - 90.31
2021 Season - 83.53
2022 Season - 89.05
2023 Game 1 - 55.1
2023 Game 2 - 50.3
Well if you just go by the numbers it is blatantly clear that Bo is half the QB now that he used to be in 2018 .
Schiltz looked good on that drive and if he gets the reps in practice this week it should be a decent showing. I haven’t seen the game stats yet, but Bo, I think, was 14 of 20 in the first half - at any rate his stats were better than what I saw. I listened to the half time radio show and they weren’t as hard on Bo as I would have expected. He missed Williams on at least one play which I found worse than the over / under thrown balls. With his experience he should be seeing the entire field, no?
No they won’t bench him, they are paying him big bucks to be the starter. If he continues to falter the change would come at least 6 games in.
His injury took that decision away from Orlondo. I hope it isn’t anything serious, but seeing him immediately grab his groin doesn’t fill me with optimism. Those things can take months to heal “enough” for a person to play a non-contact sport, let alone football.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s 6-gamed. Frankly, it would be better for the team as a whole if he is, instead of week-to-week. That would be about $166, 666, 67 off the Cap…
Just throwing it out there but this injury will most likely be what puts him on the shelve , not the coach . Prediction time here…Bo goes to the 6 gm , Shiltz takes over and Newman suddenly reemerges from the suspended list to complete the QBing trifecta along with Powell .
Thanks @Ottawacat - Interesting stats - I would have thought Kelly had a better day statistically. Not throwing a single INT obviously makes a difference.
It’s still the same O C. Can’t blame the QB if the receivers aren’t getting open v better defences
The strange thing about Bo’s injury is that it didn’t really look like much at all. He got lightly shoved and fell to the ground. It looked like any routine football play.
He’s had some injuries the past couple of years but I don’t think anybody expected him to be THAT fragile.
Looked like a pretty good shot from McManis to me… perhaps a tad late, flag worthy? Ball was gone.
Bench Condel and put in Scott!
There is a lot of blame directed at Condell but much of the Cat’s self-afflicted wounds can’t be directly attributed to him.
Bo’s turnovers, porous defence and undisciplined penalties point to a system-wide problem.
Deja Vu from last year, Bo is playing exactly how Evans played. Eventually after the Carousel of QB’s when do we start blaming management? I get that Bo is having some issues, but its the same issues I believe that Evans had, bad play calling, whether that comes down to the play book?, the pressure? Maybe not enough time to throw? bad receiving core? Eventually you have to look at the coaches and GM’s as to why this has not been working! Why dress rookie WR? why pay alot for a RB when he is hardly used? When Hills could have done the same work, and the other teams RB out plays him? So many questions I have for this management, but instead we get the same old excuses. So are we going to have another year of a QB tandem? Bo on1 game? then Schultz?
So what about Schiltz? I thought that drive was excellent: good blocking from the O-Line and chemistry with the receivers. Am I kidding myself? Were the Argos taking the foot off the pedal? To me, that drive coupled with Bo’s injury helps us avoid a painful few weeks of seeing if Bo can get it together.
Garbage time is garbage time. The blew team wasn’t putting in any pressure and were playing a prevent defence.
Just like last year, then one game when he isn’t doing to good we will put BO in and then OH BO IS THE HERO, and we will do the 2 qb Tandem again. Like last year, and the year before that and so on and so on!
I don’t want to be doom and gloom, but aren’t groin injuries sometimes the result of poor conditioning? Maybe BLM needed more playing time in training camp to get into game shape.
