Tiger-Cats vs. Riders Play-by-Play Game Thread: 10/29/2011

Tiger-Cats vs. Roughriders: October 29, 2011

Tiger-Cats gameday is here again, and so it is time to post the thread for posting about the game as it happens. If you want to post about the game as it's happening, this is the place to do so. There may be many posts here, as this game is not anywhere near where most Ticat fans can get to. I expect lots of posting and page refreshing to be going on today. And so here we go.

WHAT – Tiger-Cats Gameday. Tiger-Cats vs. Roughriders.

WHO - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

WHY – To see if the Ticats can improve their record to 9-8, have a chance of being above .500 this season, get a long overdue win in Saskatchewan, and stay sharp as they prepare for the upcoming EDSF game.

WHERE - Taylor Field at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan.

WHEN - Saturday, October 29th, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. EDT. (1:00 p.m. local time.)

HOW - Radio: CHML (900 kHz AM) or Y108 (107.9 MHz FM) broadcasting from Hamilton.

Television: TSN.

Internet: Visit http://www.900chml.com and click the “listen live? link, or simply click here to listen to CHML now.

Click here for today's weather forecast. At the time I'm posting this, there is a 70% probability of precipitation this afternoon and winds of 25 km/h are expected. Close to 1 mm of rain is expected this afternoon. And at time this was posted, it was expected that the temperature will be about 7° Celsius.

The Ticats have clinched a playoff spot, the Riders won't be in the playoffs. The Ticats are looking ahead to the playoffs, the Riders are looking to next season. The Ticats are looking to be above .500, the Riders are trying to avoid the having the league's worst record (and they have the CFL's worst record now). And the Riders are missing Durant, Fantuz, and Simpson. But don't expect the Riders to go down without a fight. They are playing for pride, with this being the last game at Taylor Field this year. Players on that team are looking to make an impression, those on the bubble in particular will try to make the best of this opportunity to do so. But if this Ticat team can't get that first win in Saskatchewan since 2000, there will be reason for concern. Ideally, the starters will look playoff-ready, get a big lead, and take the rest of the game off and stay injury-free.

Go Ticats!

Hey Thanks again BYF, I wish I could have made it to the game today but I is still at work! Thanks for the updates everyone, NFL network isn't covering this one :x

Great job, as usual,BYF. I really look forward to your more-than-complete summary.

You say that if we don't win today, it will because for concern. I would say that it is much more serious than that.
If we can't win today, knowing what is at stake, and the calibre of the opposition, it will signify that this team simply can't rise to the occasion. If they can't win today, write off any hope of challenging Winnipeg or Montreal.

EVERY game is now a must-win. Our post-season starts today.

Thanks BYF!

Oski Wee Wee,

Respect… :cowboy:

Nice start to the game thread, BYF. Hope you get the opportunity to continue all through next month.

Riders are playing for pride and TiCats are playing for fine tuning the playoff run. A few guys are trying to prove they are more than back-ups. The Secondary is still a work in progress. As the bummers found out, in this league you can’t take any game off.

Oskie Wee Wee - Smash those watermelons!

Porter to start:

@scratchingpost Drew Edwards
#Ticats will start Quinton Porter at quarterback against the #Riders. Glenn will play also. #CFL

Wooo! Let’s go Quinton!

It's very windy at Mosaic. Hopefully Glenn only plays when its at his back.

Thanks for the compliments on how I started the game thread. And Ock, I hope to keep starting game threads until Grey Cup Sunday as well.

And yes Wilf, that was kind of an understatement from me on what would happen if we lose.

Drew says:

No surprises here. RT @Ticats: Today's #Ticats inactives: OL Rogers, OL Jimenez, DE Powell DB Rwabukamba. #CFL

TSN’s coverage on now…

Will we see a team record attempt for a fieldgoal from Medlock today? He was probably hitting them from 65 in warmups with this wind today...... :cowboy:

Record for distance, not completions. No offense, but I’d like to see less Metlock, more majors today.

Record for distance, not completions. No offense, but I’d like to see less Metlock, more majors today.

Yes, we could see his name here:

Longest Field Goal

Name YDS Opponent Location Date
Bernie Ruoff 57 CAL CAL July 20, 1984
Paul Osbaldiston 57 WPG WPG Nov. 4, 1990
Paul Osbaldiston 57 CAL CAL Oct. 13, 1997

I can see Medlock getting one from > 57 yards.

Interesting tweet:

Mosiac is one of my favourite places to watch a #CFL game because the atmosphere is great. Not today & its kinda depressing. #Ticats #Riders

Well, Rider fans don’t have much to be happy about. Let’s see if the Ticats can keep it that way.

Porter to start. But of course, the question is, how long before Glenn will be in?

Kickoff coming up…

I’m kind of surprised by that. I figured with Michael Carter released, Rwabukamba would play.

I can see a lot of ground game today with this miniature gale…

Hey! No Rod Black! Must be a figure skating tournament somewhere.

Game on!

Riders start by their 50.

Alright, time to get in DInwiddie’s face.

Could that be why Porter is starting?

Hi folks!
