Tiger-Cats vs. Lions Play-by-Play Game Thread: 7/31/2009

Tiger-Cats vs. Lions: July 31, 2009

Tiger-Cats gameday is here again. And so the time to post the thread for posting about the game as it's happening has come. So I'll get it started off once again, as it seems it's I'm expected to get these threads started off. In any case, here we go.

WHO - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the British Columbia Lions.

WHY – To see if the Ticats can stay in 2nd place in their division.

WHERE - Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton, Ontario.

WHEN - Friday, July 31st, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. EDT.

HOW - Radio: CHML (900 kHz AM) or Y108 (107.9 MHz FM) broadcasting from Hamilton.

Television: TSN.

Internet: Visit http://www.900chml.com and click the “listen live? link, or simply click here to listen to CHML now.

Click here to view CFL.ca's live scoreboard for recent games. You can click the link to view this game's scoreboard whenever it becomes available, which will likely be just after the opening kickoff.

Click here to view the game preview on Ticats TV.

Click here to view the Tiger-Cats depth chart.

Click here for tonight's weather forecast. At the time I'm posting this, there is a 30% probability of precipitation this evening and southwest winds of 10 km/h are expected. And at time this was posted, it was expected that the temperature will be about 21 degrees Celsius.

We know that the Ticats can beat this B.C. team, as they did not too long ago. Their front four on the D may be banged up, but there's a certain player that the team recently acquired who can help on offence and special teams this time. Can the Ticats do what we know they can do and win?

Go Ticats!

Thank you BYF for keeping this tradition alive. For those of us who cannot go to the game and do not have cable/satellite, you can go to http://www.channelsurfing.net and watch the game online.

Thanks BYF
Should be a Great game
They 4 games are all winnable (Tonights and Next weeks I think are must wins)

Well done as always, BYF -- thanks!

I hope the Cats go on an eraly vacation like the Als did last night.

Once again BYF... nicely done... looking forward to participating

Thanks for starting another excellent game day thread, BobYoungFan. Here's hoping the Ticat defence can overcome the loss of Darrell Adams on the defensive line. Also, although Arland Bruce III may play a limited role on offence and/or special teams tonight, it would sure be a boost for Ticat fans to see some flashes of the talent he showed as a Bomber and Argo.

Thanks for the tip! I'm in Germany for a while and I thought I was SOL. Last year I was at least able to buy the game.

Here's the local radar for the current storms passing through. Hopefully they clear out quickly.

They will clear out by game time, thank god. :rockin:

Our Cats have been bad long enough and BC has been good long enough. Its our turn to have a good team and BC's turn to have a bad team.

I'd like to thank all of those who complimented me on how I started off this thread, although I do think I got a little more praise than I deserved. I forgot to mention that the game could be viewed on Channelsurfing.net, and I see at least one individual here found that information useful. Oh well, as long as we keep the tradition going, that's fine.

Anyway, the pre-game show will start in a few minutes, and there are some questions that come to mind as the time for the opening kickoff gets nearer.

What will be done with Bruce? Will AB3 be used much on offence? Will he be used much on special teams, or will McDaniel be handling returns?

Porter starts, but will Glenn take his place? And if so, at what point in the game will he be in? The leash on Porter may have been shortened, but by how much? And if Glenn replaces Porter, how long after the "we want Glenn" crowd starts demanding that Glenn be put in will he be put in?

How well can the backups taking the place of injured starters hold the fort? McIntyre may have done well, Haley played well enough last week to get Pope released and win job security in doing so. Can they keep up the good work? And will Cobb, who is listed on the depth chart ahead of Caulley, demonstrate he's not just a one hit wonder and get us many yards of offence vs. BC again? And will the front four do well enough without Adams?

Pre-game show on TSN (and CHML) now.

Pre game time… woooooot almost kick off time!!!

LMAO... Porter just said in an interview... AB said to him.. "hey man, I'm gonna make you a hall of famer!!"......too funny

Another question: Can the secondary avoid being burned a few times as they were during that game in BC?

I also had to laugh at that.

Well, his DOES bring swagger to town, as was said before.

We'll hear more from him next.

Anyone else hear Climi's comment about "If Hamilton comes into your house and beats you, you've got problems"?... how about giving us a bit of credit for being improved.. man I really dislike this pantload

Sounds like we need to win some more respect, starting tonight, with another "upset" win.

Kickoff in a few minutes.

If just gave me the impression now... any road win we get now..... the opposition "has problems" for losing to us in their own backyard!..

 :?

Crowd at IWS looks a little smaller than I expected, but opening Oskeeweewee was loud.

BC to receive opening kickoff.

BC starts at 35, Pierce is starting at QB for them.
