Tiger-Cats Vs. Bombers Play-by-Play Game Thread (8/7/2010)

Tiger-Cats vs. Blue Bombers: August 7, 2010

Tiger-Cats gameday is here again. I'm sorry to interrupt this discussion about the location of the new stadium, but there's going to be a game happening at the stadium we currently have. So anyway, the time to post the thread for posting about the game as it's happening has come. Those of you who want to discuss what's happening in the game as it's happening can post during the game here. There may not be as many posts here, as it'll be the "wish we could be there at IWS" crowd who'll be posting here. But here we go.

WHAT – Tiger-Cats Gameday: Tiger-Cats vs. Blue Bombers.

WHO - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

WHY – To see if the Ticats can avoid being 1-5 and defeat a team they must defeat.

WHERE - Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton, Ontario.

WHEN - Saturday, August 7th, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

HOW - Radio: CHML (900 kHz AM) or Y108 (107.9 MHz FM) broadcasting from Hamilton.

Television: TSN.

Internet: Visit http://www.900chml.com and click the “listen live? link, or simply click here to listen to CHML now.

Click here to view CFL.ca's live scoreboard for recent games. You can click the link to view this game's scoreboard whenever it becomes available, which will likely be just after the opening kickoff.

Click here to view Drew Edwards' blog. Drew will probably be doing live updates during the game.

Click here to view the game preview on Ticats TV. That reference to Groundhog Day was funny.

Click here for the Tiger-Cats depth chart.

Click here for tonight's weather forecast. At the time I'm posting this, there is a 30% probability of precipitation and southwest winds of 15 km/h are expected. And at time this was posted, it was expected that the temperature will be about 21 degrees Celsius.

This season hasn't quite started the way we wanted it to. That's a reason this game against another team in our division is being considered a must-win, especially after the blue team won last night in Edmonton. The last two games this team plays against this Wininpeg team are this week and next week. The Ticats do need to take this one, as next week, it won't get any easier at Canad Inns Stadium. And we have seen this Ticat team handle the Bombers the last time they played them, and they need to do it again. And so I say...

Go Ticats!

Great Job as always BYF

Go Ticats

Great job as always BYF.

One question though, what does this thread have to do with the new stadium?

Oskie Wee Wee!

No please interrupt . The Grannys on here will talk stadium right up to 100% constructed , even debating the color of seats . Good football weather and a hot A.B.111 makes for a great game tonight . Saturday night fever and I hope the cats stay alive .

Oskie wee wee!

Thanks BYF, i was getting a little worried that this thread wouldn't get started or would be hidden beneath all the stadium threads. I was going to start one myself, but it would be a pale comparison to yours.

GO CATS!!!

One of the best things about a home game is not having to listen to Rod Black.

Great job BYF...although, I am considering going to watch the Cats pummel the Spies live....

At least I'll be able to get away from new stadium talks if I do go...lol

If you are going to the game I'm sure you won't avoid stadium talk. I don't know what to expect but silence on the subject won't be it.

With all of the changes this week I'm actually more worried about a loss than I was immediately following the last debacle. It seems to me that this team has no plan. IMO Obie is responsible for the uncertainty. I honestly am beginning to question his leadership.

Hope I'm wrong but I see Ticats 1-5 after tonight

On this I would agree.
A win tonight will be a big psychological lift for the city and the fans. There has been far too much unnecessary angst caused over the future of the team recently.

OK here goes the 70s retro :

We gotta win"Two out of Three Aint Bad", but it will not be our "Waterloo" if we dont. The score should be "25 or 6 to 4" for the Cats. "We Can Feel it all Over" that the Cats will be "Stayin' Alive" after this game. We cant be a "Desperado" and think negative thoughts. When we win, it will be "Joy to the World"! Anyway, Kickoff time is nearing, and "Its Too Late Baby" to worry about it now.

"Rock on"

:rockin:

Beautiful weather, first cats game of the year for me! Nothing beats football outdoors in great weather. NOTHING!!

GO CATS!! GO STALA GO BRUCE GO GLENN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks as always, BYF!

May the ghosts of 1972 raise this season from the depths of despair beginning tonight. Not that I'm THAT mystical, but...LOL

This is getting to the point where the season can be said to be slipping away. This team needs momentum and it has to set the tone offensively! Gibson yet again is under my microscope re playcalling. We don't need 15 minuties of inspiration surrounded by 45 minutes of constipation re the headset honchos, particularly on the offensive side of the equation.

Toronto and Montreal do a great job of showcasing their game breakers. It is time for Marcus Thigpen to emerge as a factor in this offense, not just some clipboard fodder to be sent in when the game is out of reach.

Our kicking game -- punting and placekicking -- have not been to an acceptable standard. We cannot continue to shoot ourselves in the foot with silly turnovers and lack of production by our kickers. Special teams breakdowns have killed us and this must be remedied beginning tonight!

Hoping for a big Cat win. Enjoy the game, folks!

Oski Wee Wee,

Russ

On my 4th brew in the backyard, wife and me getting ready to head down to IWS and see Fred Eisenberger at the game (hahahahhahaha) and have a raring old time.

Sorry Fred, the TigerCats are a team in the CFL that have won 15 Grey Cups and are an iconic Canadian sports team. I know you dont have a clue about Hamilton history, I'll forgive you for that, you are a very, very intelligent man I'm sure.

BTW Fred, I love the arts, do you see an ampitheatre for the arts at WH? I do because unlike you, I appreciate everything the arts have to bring to Hamilton and the WH is THE place. You do appreciate the arts don't you Fred? 8)

Uhmmm Climie,, you twit.. ABIII wears number ONE not not FOUR!!!!

Heading out .......here's to a GREAT game by the home team..... whip their collective asses!!!!!!

And did I just hear SportsCentre referred to as SportsDesk? That would be appropriate, it is retro week after all.

Thanks for the compliments on how I started this thread, it's good to know I do well in keeping the gameday tradition going.

And have fun at the game HTD. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised if you hear fans argue over stadium location there at the game. In fact, a few fist fights might have to be broken up over that.

Kickoff about 15 minutes from now.

Sorry to intrude on this non-stadium thread but the Spec is now reporting the Federal government has NOT chosen the EM site. The Fed Sports Minister said today it's up to the city. It's all on the Spec website.
Just wanted to let y'all know in case someone else wants to have a go at the Mayor.
Looks like it's not over yet.

Good luck to the team tonight!

GAME TIME!!!!

GO CATS!! :rockin:

I saw that mentioned in another thread.

Now after this interruption of the interruption of stadium issues, back to the topic of the game.

Scratches for the Ticats:

#57 OL Brian Ramsay

#87 WR Chris Bauman

#23 Will Heyward

#99 DT Jermaine Reid

Thought we'd see less Bauman, not that much less. And we're scratching a good player in Heyward.

Alright, Jyles may not be much worse than Pierce, but I think we can force him into making mistakes. And hopefully we'll keep Reid from getting far. And tonight, I think we'll really see the importance of good punting, as we make big upgrade over Palardy. And yes, more Thiggy on offence would be good.

This team has done things right, time for them to do enough things right for the win.

I like those retro uniforms!

Now, get that win we must get!
