Tiger-Cats Vs. Blue Team Play-by-Play Game Thread: 6/18/2011

Tiger-Cats vs. Blue Team: June 18, 2011

After a long off-season, it is that time again. Gameday for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. It may be only be the first preseason game, but it's an actual game that we can discuss as it is happening. And someone has to start the thread for posting about the game as it happens, and it might as well be me. I'm not going to retire from starting game threads yet. So if you want to post about what happens during the game as it happens, this is the thread for that. And for the first time in too long, here we go.

WHAT – Tiger-Cats Gameday: Tiger-Cats vs. Blue Team.

WHO - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and that blue team (also known as the "Ar******s").

WHY – To find out which players on each team will be more likely to make their teams, and to see which players will succeed in trying to make an impression.

WHERE - The stadium formerly known as (and sometimes still referred to as) the SkyDome in Toronto, Ontario.

WHEN - Saturday, June 18th, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. EDT.

HOW - Radio: CHML (900 kHz AM) or Y108 (107.9 MHz FM) broadcasting from Hamilton.

Television: There is no television coverage. This is the one CFL game that will not be televised this season.

Internet: Visit http://www.900chml.com and click the “listen live? link, or simply click here to listen to CHML now.

Click here to view CFL.ca's live scoreboard for recent games. You can click the link to view this game's scoreboard whenever it becomes available, which will likely be just after the opening kickoff.

Click here for the Tiger-Cats depth chart.

Click here for today's weather forecast. At the time I'm posting this, there is a 20% probability of precipitation this afternoon and winds of 10 km/h are expected. And at time this was posted, it was expected that the temperature will be about 27 degrees Celsius.

Well, here we are. The first actual game for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats this year. It may be thought of as a practice in the form of a game. And some of the players playing this game will not play much for their respective teams in the regular season, if they play at all, in the regular season. But we'd prefer to hear about our players doing well this game, our rookies in particular. And this is hopefully where our rookies will first learn to see the blue team as the enemy, and that losing when the other team is evil incarnate is never acceptable. Will players we heard good things about continue to impress in this game? There will be discussions about what the team's roster may look like during and after this game today, starting here. A game in which we hope things go right for us, such as the enemy beginning to serve many... Lemon turnovers!

Go Ticats!

First Game Thread 2011! Great job as always BYF. Your game threads are becoming a tradition here.

FYI: I've heard the roof will be closed today.

Can't Wait to get Toronto and Watch some Football

Ahhhh you know football is upon us when we are able to post in the legendary BYF Game Day Thread......as usual great job BYF... looking forward to participating!

 Agreed

the game is also on tsn radio, for anyone who wants to hear the argo broadcast.

This is awesome.

Great job on the thread BYF! Well put together and informative. Your game day thread skills are beyond reproach.

I will be glued to the radio and to this thread. Looking forward to reading some interesting discussion here.

GO CATS GO!!!!!

Excellent work as usual BYF!

I wanted to go to the game today but everyone I asked to go with me apparently have something better to do today.. :frowning:

So I will be here to post about our listening and enjoy the game the best I can with out watching it..

For those that want to listen to the CHML feed online I recommend using the direct feed links at the url I am including. It lets you hear the game in the same 32K Stereo the CHML site provides but won't use all the extra CPU from the flash and animations on the website. I use VLC (but any software music player should work) and it uses 1.6% CPU compared to 13% in my browser. Big difference. They even have a 24K Mono feed if you want to use less bandwidth.

Here is the URL: http://www.thestreamcenter.com/canada/s ... ?name=CHML

Just right click on the feed you want and select save as. Open the saved file which should default to whatever app your computer has that works with that file type. You can they use that same file you just saved to start listening online anytime you want.

Hello Everyone
7 months have passed and it's time for a new season. Even if it's only preseason

Go Cats ! 8)

Thanks for the compliments on how I started the thread. It might’ve been more praise than I deserve (I think “legendary” might be a little much, HTD.)

Maybe that’s one thing I could’ve mentioned with this game not being televised. Oh well. It’s the preseason for me as well.

Now that is interesting and informative. Thanks for that, Zen. I use VLC myself.

I myself actually might listen to TSN radio to hear how they see the game. And Drew will post updates on his blog and on Twitter:

http://scratchingpost.thespec.com/ http://twitter.com/#!/scratchingpost

And he just reported that Wilbur has been cleared to play, so the competition between him and Medlock is on.

I’d like to know if Boltus will let us know why Tafralis and Mustain were released. Would also like to hear about the receivers, O line, and DBs.

Kickoff in about 10 minutes.

GREAT JOB, BYF, on the thread and intro

I'm listening in at work! :expressionless:

Matt Holmes was tossing softball questions in his interviews. He's clearly in pre-season mode too.

TiCats are wearing the all black uniform.

BYF, you are becoming a tradition in your own right. We have come to depend on your introduction to the games. Again, very well done!

Wow, thanks.

The game thread is a gameday tradition here.

The national anthem has been sung, kickoff coming up.

Chris Williams fumbles his first kick return; recovered for a small gain.

And it starts with Williams fumbling, picking it up and not getting that far.

Time for Porter to try to prove his critics wrong.

Porter complete to Carter to start. Good.

Wouldn't it be great if Porter came out and had a great game today with mostly 2nd string guys around him?
