Tiger-Cats vs. Als Play-by-Play Game Thread: 10/22/2010

Tiger-Cats vs. Alouettes: October 22, 2010

Tiger-Cats gameday is here again. And so the time to post the thread for posting about the game as it happens has come. If you would like to post about what happens during the game as it happens, this is the thread for that. And here we go.

WHAT – Tiger-Cats Gameday: Tiger-Cats vs. Alouettes.

WHO - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Montreal Alouettes.

WHY – To see if the Ticats can move four points ahead of the blue team in the standings, and be one Ticat win or blue team loss away from having the home field advantage for the EDSF game.

WHERE - Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton, Ontario.

WHEN - Friday, October 22nd, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

HOW - Radio: CHML (900 kHz AM) or Y108 (107.9 MHz FM) broadcasting from Hamilton.

Television: TSN and the NFL Network.

Internet: Visit http://www.900chml.com and click the “listen live? link, or simply click here to listen to CHML now.

Click here for tonight's weather forecast. At the time I'm posting this, there is a 30% probability of precipitation and winds of 20 km/h are expected. And at time this was posted, it was expected that the temperature will be about 6 degrees Celsius.

The Alouettes do not need this win. The Tiger-Cats do. The Als are missing Cobourne, Ferri, and Maypray. The Ticats have looked better recently. All reasons to believe that the Ticats will no longer be winless against teams that have records above .500 after tonight's game. To not win this evening would be a disappointment. And a win tonight and a blue team loss tomorrow would mean that the EDSF game will be held at IWS. And so now I say...

Go Ticats!

Thanks as always, BYF!

And YES, the Cats need this win.

Oski Wee Wee,

Russ

TSN.ca's game preview is at http://tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=338259 .

Of particular note:

"The Ticats can still match the Alouettes in points if they win all three remaining games and Montreal loses three in a row. However, the Als would still take top spot because they have already clinched the season series between the clubs. Montreal beat the visiting Ticats 37-14 on July 22 and won 26-6 in Hamilton on Sept. 11.

Montreal has beaten Hamilton six straight times since a 44-38 loss on Oct. 4, 2008. The Als are 14-1 against the Ticats since 2005."

This is a gorilla that the Cats collectively need off their backs. I think the operation called for is a) have the gorilla dismount tonight and b) when it transforms back into a lark come November 21...

;)

Then again, I might wind up getting occular trauma from a typical example of Gibson's finest playcalling against the Als and reach for the Wiser's...we shall see. LMAO

I sincerely hope all our coaches and players are up to the task tonight.

GO CATS!

Oski Wee Wee,

Russ

One more thing: if the Cats tank again tonight, yes there is always the playoff date/revenge fest with the Als that we aspire to. However, there's another way to look at that...

AT LEAST IT ISN'T HOCKEY NIGHT IN GLENDALE! LMAO

The shot was from the second period of the Kings-Coyotes game last night. Ugh. 6706 was the ANNOUNCED attendance.

Thanks to Bruce Arthur's tweet for the link to the photo page.

Oski Wee Wee,

Russ

A nugget I posted in the Sick Bay thread: no Damon Duval again for the Als tonight. Colt David will kick and punt for Montreal. We shall see if Dave Easley has something cooking to use against the Montreal coverage units.

Great job as always BYF.

Looks like a nice night for football at IWS. Hopefully we won't have too many left so let's enjoy what we've got.

The TiCats need to beat this Als team tonight. Beat them and then let them play the injury excuse card. What team doesn't have injuries right now? Momentum is critical going into the playoffs.

Do you think Oski is fired up to get it on.......Go Cats.

I just live in Montreal…LMAO

I want to see Baggs, JJ, Floyd, MK and the gang impose their will on the Als offense tonight and have a competitive game to set up our playoff run! All units will have to contribute, but the defense must make the biggest statement for the job to get done tonight!

Oski Wee Wee,

Russ

Game day is special to me to Russ.

A little love for the Cat o-line: http://www.cfl.ca/article/ticats-o-line-leading-the-way .

Hopefully the positiveness of that portrait will continue after tonight's test!

Just over an hour to go

LETS GET IT!

I don’t know how this game will turn out. I care deeply, but I don’t know.

For now, I am content to let events play out. But, I know that I will look closely at the result, and draw conclusions about the attitude and capability of both teams heading into the last few weeks.

This game is really a litmus test of exactly where their minds are with such a short time left in the season.

TSN's coverage begins now.

Just about time to get the party started! I hope everyone has settled into their seats

Only on Planet Black does IWS usually get EAST winds... LMAO

Whew! Good to see Mac get up and walk off. Can't afford to lose him for the game.

And it's 3rd down.

Edit: That guy has a strange punting style. Almost seems to kick out sideways.

Indeed – good stop by the D!
