Wow! His alliterative, tongue-twisting surname (Shropshire) is going to test the articulation skills of game announcers and TV play-by-play commentators across the league.

At 6’3" and 210 , Trea is a big WR at 24 years of age .

DL Spencer Waege at 6’5 and 295 is a big addition to the DLine at 25 years of age .

Quavian White DB 5’8" 182 4.52 forty 9 reps of 125 lbs age 24

I just hope Shropshire isn’t a Dropshire

IF they made it out of training camp.

We’re signing young, big and fast players . What do others want ? Small, old and slow just doesn’t work .

Young and fast isn’t enough. They also need to be competent at their positions. And not being competent means a player doesn’t make the final roster. A WR can be faster than the speed of sound, but if they can’t run good routes and catch the ball well then they’re useless.

You can’t teach speed . If you have a burner WR, you coach him up . Good coaches design plays to exploit speed . I believe the Cats have a very good OC who has been called a QB Whisper as well . Going big, fast and young is the beginning of player development .
A frequent criticism around here is that the Cats don’t develop their own stars . Well it appears that the Cats are doing this but the detractors continue to whine .

He was in camp with Toronto in 2024 and didn’t make the team, was released, and didn’t get signed with any other team. He’s basically canon fodder for camp. There to motivate the ones who have a real shot.

Garney Henley was released by the Packers . The Cats developed him . Tim White was released by the Argos and has become a 1000 yard receiver . Bo Levi was no longer wanted by the Stamps and yet led the league in passing, setting records . Other sport leagues continually sift through player releases, looking for a hidden gem because they are out there .
WR Shemar Bridges was released by the Ravens and given a chance with our Cats . He became East Division All-CFL – 1 – (2024) , East Outstanding Rookie with 83 catches and 933 yards and 4 TDs .
So yeah, I guess you’d say I disaagree with that whole “cannon fodder” comment . It’s just plain wrong .

There’s a big difference between not making an NFL team vs a CFL team. A CFL team will tolerate a lot more imperfections.

I thought we were talking about the CFL . Your statement has nothing to do with the discussion as usual .

Yup, after an electric 7 - 11 season.

You are the one that kept mentioning players that couldn’t make it in the NFL. I was responding to the things you wrote. Perhaps you’re confused.

There will be no winner in this conversation, so let’s throw it in park and carry on please.

I don’t think they bring in receivers as Camp Bodies. If they impress during Training Camp then they have a legitimate shot to make the team.

QBs are different though. Their throwing arms need to be managed and preserved. So bringing in Camp QBs makes sense to help with all the receiver tryouts.

I wasn’t saying he has no shot to make the team. I was just saying he has a history of not provoking much interest with his talent. But to be fair Toronto had a decent group of receivers that he had to compete with.

The club, also in its announcement today, included the signings of AM WRs Trey Shropshire and Cephus Johnson III, both reported mid December, in this forum.
