[b]The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed international defensive backs Ellis Lankster, Julian Posey and E.J. Woods as well as international linebackers Larry King and Jonathan Sharpe.
Lankster, a 5-10, 190-pound, native of Mobile, Alabama, returns to Hamilton for his second stint with the Tiger-Cats after spending time with the team in 2010. The former West Virginia Volunteer spent the last four seasons with the NFL’s New York Jets where he registered 67 defensive tackles, two interceptions and six pass breakups in 39 games.
Posey, a 5-11, 187-pound, native of San Francisco, California, spent the latter half of the 2014 season on the Tiger-Cats practice roster following stints with the NFL’s Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings and New York Jets. The Ohio University alum registered 143 tackles and four interceptions in four seasons with the Bobcats.
Woods, a 6-0, 215-pound, native of Inglewood, California, finished his collegiate career at New Mexico Highlands after transferring from UCLA. In 17 games over two seasons with the Cowboys, he registered 49 defensive tackles, two sacks, two interceptions and a forced fumble.
King, a 6-1, 210-pound, native of South Bend, Indiana, registered 191 defensive tackles (91 solo, 100 assisted), three quarterbacks, seven interceptions, two forced fumbles and nine pass breakups in four seasons at Indiana State. The two-time All-Missouri Valley Football Conference honouree attended mini-camp with the NFL’s Chicago Bears in 2014.
Sharpe, a 6-1, 225-pound, native of Conway, South Carolina, played two seasons at North Greenville after transferring from Wofford. In his final season at North Greenville, he registered 53 defensive tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, two sacks, two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown, and one forced fumble.[/b]
