HAMILTON— The Hamilton Tiger-Cats scored 30 unanswered against the Calgary Stampeders en route to a big win at home on Friday night. Bo Levi Mitchell‘s productive day from the pocket led his squad to their fifth win in six games with the game finishing 42-20 at Tim Hortons Field.
What a magnificent Grey Cup it would be with the Tiger-Cats. (haha) If they win against Ottawa, in a similar way, the former may be close to being the truth.
The Calgary Stampeders continued their horrendous 2024 season. The Stamps have one tie since Week 9 Here are my sincere suggestions for the once “Proud and Winning Franchise”
John Hufnagel must ask Dave Dickenson to step down
The Stamps must release pop gun Jake Mair & Matt Shiltz immediately after this season
The Stamps should try to sign-Vernon Adams-Davis Alexander or MBT. All of these Pivots would improve their 2025 campaign.
The Stamps need a complete overhaul in their secondary-Tre Roberson must be cut-he has been beaten over and over all season long on one on one coverage
To Aceguy… the stampeders demise is just the normal order of things. They had a
long run at the top…and now they’re being passed by other teams that are on the
way up. Once the dinosaurs ruled…but then the ice age snuffed them out. And
everything starts over.
You spoke of John Hufnagel. Some of us Roughrider fans can remember way
back when Joe Barnes and John Hufnagel were our quarterbacks in Sask.
We referred to our QBing tandem as…J.J. Barfnagel. They actually did pretty
well.
Certainly going to be a shake up. But who goes and who stays. Bigger still who decides this.
Do they want to go get Chris Jones . I hear he is available again.
Now back to the real topic of this article - the Tiger Cats played a great game. My question is why didn’t they show this back at the beginning of the season - they’re all the same players. I’m a Cat fan, but man did they disappoint a lot of people this year with their opening 5 loses - right from the start they were behind the eight-ball. Again, I have to ask why?
Simple, the Cats simply BECAME a far better team … Too little too late though… It also helped the Stamps regressed quite a lot too.
The bigger Question is will the cats hold onto the players they need to keep the high level of play. Every CFL team loses a lot of key players every single off season
Hmm - I can accept that coaching is a key asspect to any team - but they are not the ones on the field playing the game, so blaming them doesn’t hold water. There are no short nor sweet answers, but there are reasons for the team’s poor showing, now we need people with the brains to to find the answers.
This game was a preview to the 2025 Tiger-Cats. The team does not have a lot of free agents as in previous seasons. BLM has finally regained his 2017 form. If they can keep Chris Jones directing the defence, there is no reason they cant come out of camp firing on all cylinders next year, and avoid the usual 0 - fer start. Just maybe, the longest Grey Cup drought might end.
Chris Jones Will be head coaching in Cowtown.
He will however stick around Steel Town just long enough to get a new contract as an ad coordinator with a signing bonus, non refundable terms and then announce Calgary wants him as head coach and pull-up his tent and disappear in the middle of the night
To rider1.1…You refer to our Roughrider’s former coach / GM / chief bottle washer…who slunk out of Riderville to go join the Cleveland Browns…
…only to have them turn into the Breveland Clowns. The grass isn’t always
greener , is it Chris Jones?
The Cats’ secondary was poor for most of the season, and the coach addressed it by patching up the weakness with two changes in personnel, but it is unlikely that these emergency patches will be a long-term solution. The defensive backs must be improved upon to succeed next season. The defensive line needs to be upgraded for the defence to control the run and to pressure the opposing quarterbacks or the Cats will only find themselves lacking something to win games.
Your posts always confuse me. Why do you feel the need to show us the people you’re talking about? You’re on the CFL forum. We all know who these people are.
It’s like you’re answering questions that no one asked.
