Tiger-Cats making BIG plans for Guelph !!

Someone in our organization screwed up our deal with Mac.

But couldn't the same be said for someone at Mac? I mean they are ones losing out on Ticat monies. Remember, BY has enough money to do Guelph next year but someone at Mac obviously was ignorant, or just plain daft, to understand that.

I've posted this before, but I'll ask again. What is the big deal about seeing games in Guelph? According to google maps it's only a 45 minute drive, and even with game day traffic, it's only once every two weeks. Here in Vancouver driving an hour to work everyday is considered perfectly normal. I can't imagine it being much different in Hamilton. So why so much resistance of driving such a short distance to see your favourite team play twice a month?

You got that right, a lot of fans in Sask. drive 4-5 hours to get to the game.

In Southern Ontario, we a spoiled !

And Hamilton has been voted the Number 1 community for Chronic Complaining !!

Nothing is ever good enough, there is always an excuse, We are being cheated, is goes on and on and on. Just ask them ?

Like i said before, be happy with what you have, or are going to have !!

Yup, logic defies certain posters on this board and certain media in this city that are just plain peeved that the Cats didn’t agree to Fred’s WH. And of course these same sorts are too chicken s…t to admit it. :stuck_out_tongue:

So put down Guelph is their only comeback, or the stadium design whatever. It’s actually quite funny, but predictable for these sorts. 8)

Yea! just look at a map of Wisconsin and Green Bay. A town of 106,000 including the metro area. The 60,000 Packer fans drive from Milwaukee, 160 km away. 20,000 Canadian football fans drive to Ralph Wilson stadium every home game and it’s 25km south of Buffalo.

I still think (actually, I’m 90% certain) somebody in our organization screwed up the deal with Mac. I will not substantiate the message with a name, but let the guessing games begin. Since I’m not 100% certain, silence rules. I think it is unfair
however,to blame McMaster University for a Ticat problem that wasn’t the School’s fault.

It may have been a blessing in disguise. Guelph actually has better facilities for training camp than Mac. Guelph just opened a new state of the art indoor practice facility. I don’t know where Hamilton currently holds off season work outs but Guelph will also be installing a field size winter bubble that was part of the field renovations.

Maybe the Argos will move to Guelph too. Looks like the Jays will go to an all grass field which could mean the Argos will not be allowed to play on it.

My brother in London who follows the Mustangs and knows what’s going on mentioned that the Guelph facilities were excellent although I didn’t realize the facilities for training camp were better than Mac. Nice. I guess they are even going to be better with some Cats money next year, nice again.

I think it’s equally unfair to strictly blame the TiCats. Mac had a lot to gain from cooperating with the Cats, they screwed up. The Cats have Guelph and I think all games will be sold out without a McMaster “hate on” it seems with the Cats.

I’ll lay blame equally 50-50 for the Cats playing in Guelph and I think that’s a fair way, very fair way, to look at it. Unless someone can provide me with details and evidence to indicate otherwise. Rumours will persist in this one forever I’m sure. All I know is Guelph is getting the money, Mac isn’t. And I’m happy to give my money to Guelph as they want it, Mac didn’t want my money and they will never get a penny from me ever, unless something happens in the future to change my mind.

As a sidenote, saw this about Guelph:

Guelph profiled on American TV series “Profiles? hosted by Terry Bradshaw

And, according to Macleans magazine, that was no. 26 on the list of stupid things government did with peoples money.

Fumble for fame: Four small cities, including Guelph, Ont., and Langley, B.C., forked over a total of roughly $100,000 to have former football great Terry Bradshaw appear in short promos about them that were meant to attract new American business to small-town Canada. The videos found airtime mostly off hours, while the famous QB, who narrates the promos, couldn’t sound more bored.

99 stupid things the government did with your money: Part I

fantastic news, i love Guelph. such a party city.

Wanted to get there this weekend to see Hollerado again, enjoyed them at Supercrawl last year, but wasn't able to and they sold-out anyways I heard, which isn't surprising, they are excellent, not too heavy or slit your throatish but fun enough with enough sincerity and a bit off the beaten track. They'd be excellent for part of a Cats game there I think.

Hillside Inside kicks off Friday

Not one of their big hits but I really love this song, if you're into the animal scene at all.:

Right now I'm feeling a bit low have to admit though, had to capture a feral cat that was doing his business all around the house. We did capture him and dropped him off at the animal shelter on the mountain. We have 6 cats ourselves though and all are well taken care of but it breaks your heart because I know no one will adopt this feral cat, not neutered and totally feral.

Ticats’ ‘kickoff luncheon’ set for March 6 in Guelph

http://www.thespec.com/sports/ticats/ar ... -in-guelph

GUELPH The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will hold the official kickoff to their 2013 season at Guelph’s Cutten Fields, directly across from Alumni Stadium, the temporary, one-season home of the Canadian Football League club. The event goes on Wednesday, March 6, and is by invitation.

Some details of the upcoming season in Guelph will be unveiled at the luncheon, which is being billed as a fun time aimed at generating more excitement about the club’s presence in the city. There will be Tiger-Cats cheerleaders in attendance, along with major CFL and team brass.

The Ticats are in the process of repurposing Alumni Stadium and its surrounding campus grounds for an influx of some 15,000 football fans for as many as 10 home games. Meanwhile, civic, university and business leaders are collaborating on ways to make the most of the rare opportunity to host a big league football team and their legions of fans.

“It’s a fun kickoff luncheon,? said Steve Lowe, the Ticats’ marketing director. “It’ll be a fun day of talking some football.?

He said the team’s general manager and head coach Kent Austin, along with CFL commissioner Mark Cohon and team owner Bob Young will be in attendance. Ticats players, alumni and cheerleaders will also be part of the event, which runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guelph Mayor Karen Farbridge will address the luncheon.

“I think we are just going to talk about some of the excitement building in the community,? said Lowe. “It will be a power luncheon, with some movers and shakers in town. We are going to have some fun with it.?

The University of Guelph and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed a memorandum of understanding in late November that paved the way for the team to play the 2013 season at U of G’s newly rejuvenated Alumni Stadium. The deal will see the team contribute $500,000 to the university and absorb all the costs related to staging games at the stadium in the coming season.

The Ticats announced last week that it is holding cheerleader tryouts at U of G’s W.F. Mitchell Athletics Centre on Sunday. A choreography component and an interview are part of the audition process. The tryout is from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
