Ticketmaster restricting NHL tickets for Florida to US residents

Saw this go across the ticker on Bloomberg news channel just now

Can you blame them … most obnoxious fans in history

This is quite common when home teams are worried about giving home field advantage away.

This happened years ago for a Detroit Lions game vs the Packers in Detroit. Packers tickets are super crazy expensive so the Packers fans travel well because it is much cheaper to get tickets for a Lions game than in Green Bay. The Lions game was more or less a Packers home game so the next time out the Lions management made it so Wisconsin fans could not buy tickets to the game.

Yes, but that is not the same at all. In that case as is common and accepted practice, they are restricting based on local presence but open to all. Residents of other areas in the US are restricted no matter what their origin.

In this case, they are restricting to only American addresses, which is discrimination based on national origin as implied because Florida is full of tourists and visitors from all over the world not only Canadians, plain and simple. This one will not go silent even though the NHL might try to make the sports media go silent on it.

Las Vegas and other NHL cities have no such policy, but this is modern Florida.
