Ticats Would Pursue Printers If Available

On his CHtv sportscast this evening, Bubba O'Neil showed a clip of an interview he did with Ticat GM Marcel Desjardins earlier today. When asked whether the Ticats would have any interest in Casey Printers if he decides to return to the CFL, Desjardins said that the Ticats would pursue him if the opportunity arises.

As I Said they would in another Thread.
If they Get him that another Story

That is good news. In the past all we would hear is that Printers would be too expensive.
Now that Mr. Young has provided the necessary money to compete for players maybe the TiCats can acquire Casey Printers.

I think the Cats are WAY under the cap with the team they are fielding right now (other than McKay-Loescher on D, Maas, Ralph, Armstead, and Hudson on O, who is really getting paid big bucks? Think about it). So Hamilton probably has the necessary $$$ available to land Printers.

But we already have Chang (who looks pretty exciting), and the Argos (guaranteed) will break the bank to get Casey. So even if Marcel bids, Printers will be in double-blue before Pinball can say, "what salary cap?"

We would have to overpay to get him.

didn't Bob overpay for Maas. nudge nudge wink wink

Crash if we Sign Casey
to a Contract that Pro Rated.
We may Get Him.
Let Say 200,000 for 9 Games.
Don't Pick Jason's Option for 2008
There is a savings there Right.
These can be added for the 2008 to Casey
We Make the 2nd year Contract for 375,000
Then Have Option for 425,000 for year 3 .

We could Also add a structure escalator clauses
and De escalators clauses to his contract.
here is a Sample:

If Casey where to pass for 5000 Yards
He could make 5000.00 More
If he Keep Interception Under 10 +2000.00
for Every game Casey is the Starter
He'll get 1000.00 On Top of his Base Salary

If he where throw Over 15 Picks -2000.00
If he where pass for under 2500 Yards -3000.00

I think we have a Good Chance to get him.
If we can make a Good Offer for years 2 and 3
We are Way under the Cap

No high profile player is going to sign a contract that is not guarranteed and loaded on the backend of the deal! Its usually the other way around.

One thing that's for sure is Printers is going to test the SMS and if a team is stupid enough to throw the SMS out the window...

Can't see this happening even without news like this:

http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/news_story/?ID=217325&hubname=

Casey will exhaust every NFL option before settling anywhere but here.

He has told Chiefs coach Herman Edwards that he would accept a practice roster spot if he clears waivers.

This Sucks
why make a 100,000 sitting and going Rusty
When could make 250,000 to 500,000 in the CFL
Plus he would start here..
Makes no Sence to me

The CFL and Hamilton are Good Option IMO.

"It's not a cap," says Calgary president and co-owner Ted Hellard, one of the architects of the SMS. "It's a luxury tax. You're welcome to go over it. You can over spend. It's a luxury tax. If you're over, you pay."

why is this SMS concept so hard for Ticat fans to grasp????...a team CAN go over the cap if they want to...just be prepared to pay the penalties.

as for the argos, with the savings from bash's release, cut avery, retire damon, cut mcmahon and dont sign borighter, the argos wouldnt be far off from the cash needed for signing printers.

and noone has said the argos are interested in printers anyways...its all speculation.

But...what are the penalties???

That's what needs to be made clear(er).

Cash? Draft Picks?

its been made clear....many many many times.

Teams that exceed the $4.05-million cap by $100,000 will be fined a dollar for every dollar they're over. Clubs going $300,000 or more over will pay $3 for every dollar they're over. Additional deterrents could include loss of draft picks or negotiation-list players. Teams also have to provide full disclosure to the CFL regarding player salaries, bonuses and any side deals. The CFL has hired Trevor Hardy, a forensic accountant, to monitor teams' spending.

100,000?

Minimum NFL practice roster salary is $5200 a week. Minimum NFL salary is $285000

If you Check I is Was Quoting what in News Paper Link posted.
