HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats got their first win of the season on Sunday night after defeating the Ottawa REDBLACKS 21-13 at Tim Horton’s Field.

Dustin Crum showed a lot of potential. I suspect he will start the next REDBLACKS game. I don’t think we will see Masoli for a long, long time.

Ah my loveable underdogs…
Too bad if they won again it could have really started something

Instead it looks like Ham/Ott will try and fight off the cross now

Now would be a good time for Dustin Crum to show Shawn Burke that ‘bone spurs’ X-ray that’ll give him an excuse not to start against the Bombers next week.

I think Shiltz played very well and came through when he had to. Too bad about Masoli - depending on the injury, this could be the end of his career. Crum played very well, and totally above his head - this was a one time event.

Masoli did not go down in the first quarter, it was with just over 6 minutes left in the 2nd. Unfortunately I don’t think he’ll ever play again.

Often easier for a rookie QB when he just gets thrown into the game and opposition is not prepared for him … next game will be an interesting challenge.

Overall, I’m happy the TIcats won - they really needed it. The Defense made moves that they needed to - creating turnovers and getting pressure on the QB - which I was happy to see. It appears that unit may be finally gelling. Still some work to be done on the offensive side, and discipline/unnecessary penalties continue to be an issue. I know it’s only against the RedBlacks, but it is a division rival, and a win is a win. Hopefully they’ll build on this. and we’ll continue to see good things.
