ticats takeover is a joke

hit the takeover at 8 pm on a Saturday, looked inside and it was less than half full and they were turning customers away. ended up going to the spirit of edmonton and it was an absolute blast. thoughts???

Could have been a fire capacity issue?

Friday night was much better at shoeless joes, on Friday both sides of bar were open and there were player appearances, cheer team, pigskin. Banks fantuz filer Stephen and more were there. Saturday was a bust. They closed the seating area early and turned people away even though it was only half full for some reason. Definitely not a fire issue as staff indicating that during ufc fights the bar has way more patrons.

Spirit of Edmonton was place to be all weekend. The Winnipeg room was good on Friday afternoon as well. The convention center events were poorly attended. I didn't make it to redblacks room, as we attended the vanier. We also did not go to lions or stamps rooms.

we closed the place down sat got there around 9 pm was very busy and Chick and Filer were there

Ya, it wasn't that full to capacity and they started lining people up outside for some reason late afternoon / early evening.
Generally, the time to go to the takeover is late afternoon and then everyone eventually works their way to Spirit of Edmonton or other night parties around 8 or 9pm.
It's a cool place to hang out amongst your own so to speak before heading out to the big parties.
I think Friday was the busier night as there lots of players cheerleaders, pigskin pete etc and it was pretty rockin until about 10pm...

Being a industry guy its not always know to those who don't work in the hospitality business. Just because there is room to stand does not mean guests can pile in and stand there and watch a game or event. Workers need room to do their jobs without having to constantly push their way past guests. And to be honest some "guests" can be quire rude when it comes to understanding this. There are always capacity issues, safety issues and just general issues that need to be addressed in order to accommodate the guests that are actually in the restaurant/bar
