Ticats hire Chris Jones as senior defensive assistant; part ways with Washington

Based on the defensive talent. You could likely hire a forum member to coach this mess.

It does not take a football coach to determine that three new linebackers in a season are not a great way to start a season. It was common sense that those in charge keep Jameer Thurman, a key man for success, in the lineup. Thurman has been touted as the best in his position of middle linebacker by Tsn. and was recruited by the Riders. If the Cats can make this common sense mistake I wonder how easily they could be failing in other areas.

Jones was always a pretty decent DC – when that’s all he did. As such I don’t see this being as bad a move as others. But I wouldn’t expect miracles from him given the season is half spent.

They forced Simoni Lawrence to retire, lost Thurman to free agency, and traded for a guy who retired before camp, with no in-house solutions. Talk about a bad plan from the start.

Ticat’s didn’t really “hire” him. He is working for them for free until the end of the season.
Bails the Ticat’s out when it comes to ops cap this season.

I expect there will be personnel changes on the defence starting next week…

Good grief. Can’t we just end the Chris Jones experiment? He ruins whatever locker room he goes into. He has failed, and walked out on so many teams. Let him slink off into the sunset, please…

Well said Gibber. On a completely different topic, Now that Nathan Rourke is back in the Lions fold, do any other Champeder fans think that VA Junior would look great in Red and White? I think that Jake is a seviceable QB, just not the star that VA is!

Some people seem to let reality elude them. Jones always had success as a defensive coordinator which is what he is again. It was as a head coach that he was unsuccessful.

Exactly - they went from getting hammered one week to competing with the team tied for first in the west the next with Jones help.
