You’ll be sorry!

Nothing wrong with trying to improve a defence giving up an average 30 points every game. As long as Jones is not given 3 or 4 other hats to wear, and stays focused on defence is the key. Not a fan of coaches multi-tasking (though it is often a reality in the salary cap CFL).

You’re quite right on all points. I would however question the optics, if not the very wisdom, of hiring someone to revive your league-worst defence who was just recently fired after presiding (in total control) over the league’s worst team overall for the past 3 or more seasons.

There’s a dumb, desperate, massive mistake by the Ti-Cats. ‘Good luck’ with that!

The only thing Jones will improve is the Ti-Cats loss record!

Rather than losing, rather than switching coaches wouldn’t the season be so much smoother if the team had held onto tenacious Jameer Thurman and powerful Malik Carney? These guys were essential parts of the Cat defence and are certainly helping the Riders win.

The key phrase above is ‘Total Control.’ Hopefully Jones will stay in his lane and focus only on defense. Not worried about optics if the team stops giving up 30 points a game. We will know soon enough.

Chris Jones is a total loser and only knows how to lose. Sorry to the Ticat Fans but the season is over now with this hiring. Hope Orlondo isn’t paying Jones anything, because it will hurt more to pay to lose worse.

Will Hamilton score more than 7 points this game against Winnipeg

Sure, as long as the D holds Winnipeg to 6 points.

My my, teams get creative with titles

New to the forum. Been following for a while, but with this Chris Jones thing, just had to chime in! Really? I had actually thought when the Mo’s…Sorry Elks! disposed of this clown, he would finally slink back south and we would never see or smell him again. I hire people for a living! And with his resume of changing jobs every year (or two at best) on average. Ummmmm nobody sees a trend? He as and always will be a cancer and a blight on this wonderful leauge! go back to colledge ball in the States punk! At best, that is where he belongs!

Sorry for the typos team… I was pretty riled up! He shouldn’t even be coaching period! Certainly not in Canada!

If a different system comes in with the new D coordinator and the D is better then maybe we know that a player overhaul ( which this team did last year as they started with 9 new starters on D ) is not necessary and fewer changes are required in the off season. But if a different coordinator with fresh eyes cannot improve the D they know that another major overhaul is required for 2025. Go back to college ball punk lol …man harsh words do you know this guy personally ?

Football in the pros is filled with head coaches who for whatever reason did not succeed , get fired and return as a coordinator. Is it because this guy was just let go a month ago that everyone is up in arms? Being last in so many defensive categories had Mark Washington on thin ice and they got a replacement who at one time has done a decent job as a D coordinator so just chill out folks! The world is not ending.

He may make some difference in the short term. In fact, given how bad Hamilton’s defence is, anything Jones does will be an improvement. But since it’s the middle of the season and there is thus no training camp to install his playbook, Jones will be forced to make them play mostly man, and the results will not be pretty. Apart from Jamal Peters, there isn’t a player in that back eight I’d trust in bump-and-run coverage.

Hamilton fans are about to find out just how poor a job Hervey has done at recruiting on the defensive side of the ball. You can’t put lipstick on a pig.

Speaking of Ed Hervey, I wonder how he feels about reuniting with Chris Jones.

CFL Hamilton Tiger Cats hire Mr. Chris Jones Professional Football Coach Extraordinaire, very astute move to get your club moving up in the CFL East Division. Very good move and hire.
