Ticats apparently not pursuing Clermont

I think Obie is doing the right thing. We already have Bauman, who is basically an emerging Clermont. And money can be better spent elsewhere, like the O and D lines. That said, I think the Ticats should pursue ay least one import deep threat FA receiver, to open things up more for Rodriguez down field.

The above article also speculates that Toronto could be interested in Printers.

Interesting that teams like Edmonton,Montreal and Toronto don't appear to have contacted Clermont. Looks like most of the GM's don't want to be used as negotiation pawns. Probably explains why Wally outright released him.

Clermont would be too expensive, according to Obie and Popp.

He's essentially at the same point as Dave Dickenson was at the beginning of last year. Great player whom any team would love to have under normal circumstances but one hit away from disaster. Risk is way too high for a team at Ham.'s stage.

When you see the hits Clermont takes on game reruns you wonder how hes still wearing his head.

Is Claremont in that bad shape? Because if he's healthy, I can't fathom why the Ti-Cats wouldn't go after him. A big, strong, reliable possession receiver who'll make the tough catches in traffic -- it's what you guys desperately need to complement P. Rod. Moreover, Claremont's a veteran who knows when to break off his route and come back to help out his QB if it's a blitz.

And that was one BIG problem in Hamilton last season.

Agreed, d&p, however he gets $180,000 annually and he's a year older. Not worth the dent in our salary cap. The Ticats aren't in much of a position to make any BIG deals until they dump Printer's contract, and I think they will. As stated earlier though, their first priority needs to be linemen on both sides of the ball.
