TICATS ADD FOURTH QB

According to KP, Obie has signed Quinton Porter of Boston College. Whats your reaction?

See KP's blog for more info.

http://catchat.thespec.com/

I have the same ho hum reaction to all rookie signings until they prove themselves.

Except of course for DF.

Good Signing

I like Chang just fine @ #3

Prediction:
By Aug. 1 he will be declared the future and "the real deal" and by all rights should be the starter but cannot because he is being held back by Taaffe who cant "evaluate properly" and saddled by the "politics" of Printers' salary.

That and/or Ron Lancaster.

I guess that means "Goodbye Timmy"

Not really it means the Ticats have found a QB that is less mobile then DannyMac

Every CFL team goes into camp with at least 4 QB's. Some have 5 going in even.

At this point its nothing more than competition for camp.

goodbye Timmy!

Printers and Willams Have to be Faster then that.

Did you not see that he does
the 40 in 4.67 seconds, fax?

He is fairly fast for his size

unlike Danny Mac who
Oski-wee-wee described

as running a naked bootleg
at the speed of an avalanche.

Yup.

Obie said it himself in today's Spec, "He understands the situation. He will press people to do the job."

No big deal.

Another thing to think about is that if you look at the CFL history you will see that larger QB's have not had much success up here. Printers and Kerrigan are 2 of a small group of larger QB's that have done well up here.

Something to think about..

Just another Q/B of many that have passed the IWS turnstile.
When Chang came in, everyone thought he was our great saviour.
A Q/B in the CFL needs at least 3 years before he can show his stuff. All I can say at this time is that he has all the tools.
.
I think the biggest mistake made by the CFL is changing pre-season games from 4 to 2. There is NO way you can evaluate a player ( any player ) in 2 pre-season games.
So, he'll compete, but for 3rd string only.
.
Just my Canadian 2 cents worth ( somewhat higher than yesterday).

Every player that shows up for camp is an unknown. this is one of my favorite times of the year, my buddies and I watch the camp and guess who will or will not make the team. We have some pretty heated discussions on who is better than the other. Even some of the veterans are not a sure thing.

I've learned to ignore all training camp talk on here as I find everyone over exaggerates things quite a bit. Last year all I heard was that Curry looks like Terry Vaughn with speed and everyone was saying Maas's arm looked as strong as ever and that Chang was the second coming of Dan Marino, then a few years ago it was Jon Beautjer who looked like the next John Elway.

But I think it's a great sign if people are on here whinning about how bad the team looks, because that's a sign of a veteren team.

Well, Porter has run a 4.67 in the 40, as opposed to Danny who ran a 4.68 in the 40 inches...

Oski Wee Naked Bootleg,

Hope that he becomes a good Q.B. but don’t get excited too soon.

Scouting report notes on him: Has prototypical size. Has a nice over-the-top release and steps into his trows. Not very nifty-footed and do not see timed speed in his play. Looks like a statue in the pocket and does not move around a lot. Arm strengh is average and cannot wing it off-balance without stepping into his throws. Does not see the field well or play decisively. Ref:2006 Draft Preview by:Nolan Nawrocki.

Not a CFL type Q.B.

Notes on Casey Printers: Good athlete with a good, live arm. Can drill the ball and throw a tjght spiral. Can buy some time with his feet and run with the ball. Very erratic passer.Struggles to read coverages.Questionable judgment. Will force the ball into traffic.Ref:2003 Draft Preview by: Joel Buchsbaum.
