Ticats add a DB and suspend one

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats added to their defense, signing non-import defensive back Marc Beswick on Saturday.

The Vancouver naitive was a fourth round (31st overall) by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 2008 CFL Canadian Draft.

The Saint Mary’s product played in six regular season games and one playoff game with the Bombers last season, tallying five defensive tackles, one special teams tackle and one tackle for a loss.

The Tiger-Cats also announced Saturday that the team has suspended non-import defensive back Raymond Wladichuk.

Apparently Wladichuk has been sent back to Simon Fraser for a year.

The Ticats have suspended 2009 draft pick DB Raymond Wladichuk (would like to know the inside story on this one) and he has been replaced on the roster by former Winnipeg Blue Bomber DB Marc Beswick. Wladichuk was a pleasant surprise during training camp and he showed well during the pre-season games on special teams. He's going back to school at Simon Fraser.

Is this a way of protecting him, rather like retiring them so they can go back to school?

It might very well be, Wallace.

Obie has to be super protective of our
not ready-for-prime-time draft choices

with people like Marcel Desjardins around
ready to hop on a technicality to steal them

and QB Chase Clement who left our team
for suspicious reasons like Chris Leek.

Just checked Drew Edwards reports. It appears that Beswick will be taking Wladichuk's spot on the roster, as Wladichuk will be returning to school.

i think there is already a thread on this man.
