I guess weve all been spoiled with the success and excitement of Als during th Treshman era. I would be a mistake to compare to current staff but the comparisons will always be made. This is Montreal and the competion for the fan dollar is fierce. Case in point, the attendane at Impact games has fell dramatically. Montreal fans demand entertainment and winning. The Als to this point are offensively boring. I blame this solely on management because of the time it took in appointing a Head Coach, who in turn did not have the time recruit an experience offense staff. We have the players but lack an offensive scheme. There is nothing wrong with our QB, hes just not using his best assests. I guess this will all get fixed in time but how long can the defense be on the field.
Thouhgs:

  • HC (I think he has been away from the sidelines too long & not the right personbality for this team this is Montreal)
    -OC (lack of experience and it shows )
    -Chad (Impact player in the past but I do not see the fire - what happens when Duran returns - sit Stafford)
    Okay fellow fans it bothers me to see where we headed with the players we have, we should be 3 & 0 easily......I saw more fire in this team when Popp was the HC so heres hoping it returns.

Winning will help for sure. The fact the the Als are on that level in the city is a good thing. There are so few franchises in any sport that have the ability to own a city win or lose. The NHL in Montreal just happens to be one of those teams. Still appears though that the Als will stay solid in the future with fan support and putting a good team on the field. being 2nd in your city behind an NHL team like Montreal is not a bad thing.

Je ne cois pas que les Alouettes auraient devraient "facilement" avoir une fiche de 3-0 actuellement. La débandade de Calgary montrait passablement le chemin que les Alouettes doivent parcourir pour aspirer au sommet et ce n'est pas cette saison que ça va arriver.

Mais les Alouettes auraient dû avoir une fiche de 2-1, fiche qu'ils n'ont pas à cause de l'indiscipline, du manque d'expérience de Smith et du fait que Sean Whyte n'a pas le pied assez puissant pour faire un simple de sa ligne de 49.

Ce que je vois, c'est une équipe qui améliore des portions de son jeu à chaque semaine. Cette fois-ci, l'attaque a produit des touchés et mis plus de 30 points au tableau. Normalement, ça aurait dû être suffisant pour l'emporter, mais en concédant plus d'un terrain et demi aux Bou! Bombers, ils ont laissé aller ce qui aurait dû être une victoire.

Si cette progression se maintient de semaine en semaine, nous pourrions trouver que nous avons une équipe intéressante à encourager pour la 2ième moitié de la saison. Les Alouettes jouent 6 de leurs 9 derniers matchs contre les équipes de l'Est. C'est là que le classement des Alouettes devrait se jouer.

Je ne commenterai pas sur les Alouettes, mais j'inclus sous ce thème les joueurs ajoutés ce matin. Ces joueurs sont: Nat. RB Dahrran Diedrick, Int. QB Jonathan Crompton et Int. LB Kyler Elsworth. Int. QB Zach Zulli a été libéré.

Diedrick. Un peu surpris. Agé de 35 ans. Par contre, les Alouettes ont un tel besoin. Qui sera sacrifié? Kyle Graves? Quelqu'un ajouté à la liste des blessés?

Crompton. Contrat de 3 saisons. Je me demande si Alex Brink ne sera pas libéré sous peu/après 4 ième partie. Brink n'est pas une solution. N'est pas un QA partant.

Elsworth. Se joint à l'équipe de pratique. Un article sur lui durant camp d'entraînement.

I too wouldn't be surprised to see Brink cut loose in a week or two. ALS clearly trying to stockpile as many QB prospects as possible and Brink is not a prospect.

Thank you for the information idealsheldon; if Lumbala is injured,it definitely makes sense to sign Diedrick. Not too many options. If Lumbala goes to the 1 week injured list, Diedrick will then replace him on the active roster.

Yeah but who's doing the evaluation ? And how do you evaluate a kid like Zulli in one practice ???

We didn’t protect Lavoie a guy who lived for the Als claiming he had an injury but yet we protected a guy who spent the season on the injured list now injured again, playing out his option and who will likely move back to Alberta after this season :thdn:

C'est assez paradoxal, en effet. Et je ne suis pas vraiment enchanté de voir Diedrick venir comblre ce vide. Il faut croire que les Alouettes n'avaient pas beaucoup d'option, et sans doute que Diedrick ne leur coûte pas cher non plus.

Je ne sais pas si le renvoi de Zulli signifie qu'il ne sera pas de retour avec l'équipe un moment donné. J'aurais aimé qu'on développe ce jeune qui a dirigé 3 systèmes offensifs différents avant de le libérer.

Je ne suis pas un grand admirateur de Crompton. Pour ce que j'ai vu de lui, je ne peux pas dire qu'il m'ait vraiment impressionné. Serait-il meilleur ou pire que Brink, ça demeure à voir. Pour l'instant, je ne l'estime pas meilleur que Brink, pas tellement pire non plus, mais seulement moins expérimenté.

Si Smith venait qu'à manquer des parties, les Alouettes auraient Marsh, Brink et Crompton en réserve. Un trio terrifiant! Si les Alouettes libèrent Brink, on parlerait de Marsh et Crompton, avec un autre noble inconu. Encore plus terrifiant!

Crompton devra en faire pas mal pour supplanter Brink, mais peut-être qu'il y parviendra.

Pat White didn't have a great camp and the Eskimos decided to keep him ahead of Crompton... Crompton did have a great camp in 2013. So we will see.

J'ai bien lu les articles de Herb et Mathieu mais, selon les photos-5- Jeff Perrett a pratiqué avec Brodeur-Jourdain,Bomben, Matte et Bourque ainsi qu'avec Matte et Piotrowski.

A friend asked me yesterday about what`s with the Als resigning Diedrick. My answer was that Kerry Carter must be busy this week.

But kidding aside, as Darren Gill mentioned this morning, with Ott. in the league there are now 25 or so fewer available Canadians. So as injuries occur over the course of the season it is going to be difficult for teams to find replacements.

Gill said the Als had a Canadian player tryout this week - he mentioned Sam Fournier being there - and Diedrick was signed. To me it also shows the team must have lost confidence in Zaleski, placed on the practice roster last week.

Diedrick knows the league, is a good special teamer and a character guy.

Jerod Zaleski was added to the Als active roster,yesterday, as per CFL transactions. Diedrick is on the practice roster. If Lumbala does not play, I expect Zaleski to dress; he could be used as FB/TE.

There seems to be more injuries than before in the CFL and,yes, with the arrival of Ottawa many “older” players are signed by teams. Today, Toronto signed Maurice Mann-WR- to their practice roster. Hamilton signed ex Als Ed Gainey to their practice roster.
