And this is why I still call it Ivor Wynne, or simply just ‘The Stadium’
First Ontario Stadium , here we come!
(To go along with First Ontario Centre and First Ontario Concert Hall…why not be more confusing!)
Can probably merge this with my October 19 thread Mods.
Just call it Hamil-tent stadium .
Does that mean that drugs and drug paraphernalia will be sold on site ?
Seriously though, naming rites are another revenue stream for the Tiger- Cats . Every professional sports team goes through this when the existing contract expires . Wrigley Field and Fenway Park might be the more recent exceptions to this trend, IMO .
Either First Ontario Stadium or Juravinski Field or Ron Joyce Stadium (East) just to confuse everybody even more. Lol.
how about caretaker stadium
BC Place almost had a name change once. Apparently somewhere around Princeton BC there is still stored huge letters, T E L U S.
What do you want me to tell you?
Telus…get it?
It’ll always be Never Win Stadium to me.
Gotta say I’m not sorry to say goodbye to “the Donut Box”
Oh oh. Big revenue loss here. Don’t think this was a bidding war thing…, if so, the announcement would have been no longer THF we are now X Corporate field or whatever. This smells like Tim’s pulling the plug. Time will speak….let’s see how long before a new name is announced. In all likelihood and hopefully it is First Ontario. I think I read somewhere that they won’t having naming rights on the renovated arena. In any event the cats have to find the $$ lost on this somewhere….not good folks.
I’m not big on the sky is falling.
Maybe HSG wanted more money and Tim Hortons said no. It’s not entirely unexpected. There was a term for the deal. The term is up. Let’s see what happens before we say it’s not good. This happens all the time in sports.
Anyone think that Stelco might be in the bidding?
Pretty expensive for them, I know.
How about the Balsam Bengal bunker lol
I have a feeling it’ll be the stelco stadium or Cleveland-Cliffs Stadium
Cleveland-Cliffs Owns Stelco
Lol sure….happens all the time in sports…., but this is the CFL not MLB or NFL…., this is going to be a huge hit for the ticats who by the looks of the stadium are only averaging 16-18k per game…, no matter what they announce the crowd to be. No the sky isn’t falling…, life will surely go on…, but this is a BIG hit to the ticats pocket. Hey read the press the release….’just as the stadium has evolved so has our relationship with Tim’s…word salad at best. I’m telling you folks this ain’t good.
As long as the new name isn’t something as bad as Princess Auto Stadium I’ll be happy.
The cats will put any name on it if they can get the $$$
OK Chicken Little.
I can give a VERY recent example from the CFL. IG Field to Princess Auto Stadium. Seems to have worked out for them.
Lol. Wasn’t it you who referenced the sky is falling? Anyway…., let’s see who steps up and for how much…., I will be very surprised if it’s the same amount that Tim’s paid. Just not enough people attend the stadium for an advertiser to spend premium $’s for naming rights. This ain’t good for the Cats.
