Glad I could only listen to it on the radio, I feel for you who actually spent hard earned dollars to watch that.
I was at the all of the above, the Billy Dicken game (down 28-0 first quarter) the 48-0 game, every labour day game since 79, still the worst game for me was Aug 13 2004 when we were beat so bad by the Lions 50 something to whatever. The part the hurt so bad was that Wally Buono intentionally sent in players for 2 consecutive illegal substitution penalties inside the cats 15 yd line so the lions would not score again. That really made me sick. Mayfair ate my jersey that night (true story).
Good call. I remember that game…Simon had 4 receiving Td’s and a truck load of yards, Printers light it up and left the game in the third quarter because they were killing us so bad and then Wynn came in and threw 3 more TD’s.
I agree this game was the worst closely followed by Friday nights loss to Winnipeg, but nothing will ever be as bad as that 48-0 game in Toronto last year. I’m still not over it.
The saddest game I ever sat through was the semi-final a few years ago at IWS. People thought it was going to be the last Ti-cats game ever and fans came out of the woodwork so there were 20,000 in the stands (there had been as few as 12,500 that season). It was cold and snowing. The Cats lost, of course, but that wasn't the worst of it.
Who was Billy Dickens? I must have missed that 1/4. How bad was he? What was his stats? Can’t possibly be as bad as Eakin was Friday.
I remember a similar game as stated above must have been 96 or 97 last game of the season on a cold wet November day. When everybody was saying this was going to be the Cats final game because they would be going out of business.
They played Saskatchewan and won the game it was a close one right to the end. I remember because I had to drag my ex-wife to it.
They drew 24,000 after drawing flies most of the year I thought I would never see them play again ![]()
Dicken was the worst QB we’ve ever had, hands down.

Eakin has at least WON some games with the Cats. Between Dicken and Todd Bankhead (another legend-in-reverse) backing up an injured Danny Mac (hamstring) that season, it was the most painful thing I have ever had to watch as a football fan. I am not joking here.
Dicken has since manufactured some success in Arena Football, where there are less players in the opposite-coloured jerseys to throw picks to.

Oski Wee Wee,
Dicken was the worst QB we’ve ever had, hands down.

Statistics for each team for each season dating back to 1999 were previously available on the CFL’s website. And I’m not sure why they are not available now. This is unfortunate as this is one of those times it would help if there were a place on the web in which information like this could be found.
And to keep this thread on-topic, the game at IWS that I found hardest to sit through was this one game back in 1991. The Ticats were playing Edmonton and like many other games in when Beckman was coaching the team, it was one-sided in the other team’s favour. Let me just say that the turning point was when the opening kickoff was fumbled by the Ticat who was to retrun that kickoff and Edmonton recovered. That was not a good time to be a Ticat fan, and in fact I understand at least a few other games from the fortunately-short Beckman era could be mentioned here as well.
I had more fun sitting in the rain through the 1-17 season then I did Friday night. Since being a season ticket holder in 98 I have never left a home game early. (Support them when they win, support them when they lose) However Friday night I left with about 6 min to go. It was absolutely unbearable. For a game we so desperately needed to win we looked horrible.
However for me the 48-0 drubbing last year was first and I sat through that one cause it actually got funny. This wasn't
See you Aug 12th.
Not much to say other than one of the worst games I've ever witnessed by the Tiger-Cats, a horrible disgrace although the defence didn't play that bad, they were on the field one heck of a lot for sure. But beautiful night at the ballpark and watched an excellent Winnipeg squad and Milt Stegall, love that guy even if he doesn't play for us. What a player and a treat watching him. And Berry has this team ready, beautiful watching how he has allowed an average qb like Glenn to shine. Nice job in Winnipeg landing this guy, outsmarted us getting him there, very smart move by the Bombers.

Posting here since that thread is locked. NFLCanada, this idiot loves Canadian football and is the REAL football, predating American football in history. We taught them to get away from soccer and run with the ball and that. I know, you don’t care about history and such since your ability to comprehend anything other than “gee, wow, look at all the glitz and glamour of NFL stadiums on TV” is very limited. Are you related to Paul Godfrey BTW?

Winnipeg vs. Hamilton
was this just a bad dream?
Worst game... or games would be during the end of the Al Bruno era. 13,000 in the stands and we went 0-6 to start the season and I think it nearly rained every home game.... but I was there.
Over 40+ years I have probably been at games just as bad, maybe worse, but not one can compare to the atmosphere the other night. I have never been to a game where everyone around me seemed so apathetic! After the first quarter there was little in the way of conversation (not the musics fault this time)cheering, yelling, even the booing died down after the half. Almost like a giant "out of body experience" I guess. Just emptiness in the pit of my stomach.
Understandable, how often did we get the ball into the oppositions zone? Hmmm.
I agree with Crash Friday nights game was the 2nd worst game to sit through and the Argos 48-0 beating we received was the worst.
One thing I forgot to mention in my previous post. I'll never forget the look on Hitch's & M. M.'s faces coming off the field and on the sidelines. It looked like pure rage at what was happening to their beloved team. Guess because they are from the Hammer!
First home shut-out since 1951
Not even a field goal attempt
July 28, 2006 is the new standard for worst home game ever
was the weather alright for football?
was the beer cold?
did you go to the game with some friends or family?
then it was a night out from being a couch potato.
is life over from this outcome?
answer is no just a distant memory for some and for some a game to forget.
time to move on.....
I sat through 48-0 in Toronto.
That was the worst game ever, this was 2nd worst.
I once lost in a game 56-0 that was alot fun! ![]()
