That was my memory but I could be wrong. I know that I posted a picture at one point of a fabulous Home Depot in Yellowknife which is where I think EZ was suggesting a franchise be located, or at least that the New Year’s Day game be played there.
The panel should consist solely of some key player’s moms…
Those were no doubt some heady times in CFL Forum history from 2021 to 2023,
when in 2021 during the pandemic,
with more extra time than perhaps ever in our adult lives, we were bantering about the state of those discussions by the CFL with the XFL people and all those sudden pandemic basement newcomers from amongst my fellow countrymen, I apologize again now to all of Canada for their presence though I and all other CFL fans still here are not associated with those bojacks, who showed up suddenly with all the more of their fabulously stupid ideas for the future of football in Canada and worldwide,
followed by 2022,
when coming out of the pandemic more dudes than I ever imagined in that same bunch thought that a trash hub league like the USFL 2.0 was going to be the future of ALL football that was not the NFL, “because the gate doesn’t matter,”
and finally 2023,
when both the USFL and XFL were operating and competing against each other as both camps of fans hated each other but were generally overly confident about the viability of each of their leagues on their own, as there was definitely a giant sucking sound in the summer of 2023 for players for the CFL as the quality of play suffered greatly.
Mercifully in September 2023 after the USFL and XFL had wisely decided to merge, many of these dudes found themselves at last and perhaps adopted a new career as crocodile hunter, cartel courier, or low-budget film and TikTok stuntman and were never heard from again, not even to watch the generally successful UFL after only one season, and that’s for the better for the rest of humanity.
Behold the happy ending for the rest of us still here and beyond watching football!
The End.
I think these guys are the most entertaining panel in sports. Guys like Matt Dunigan, Sanchez, Stegall and Kate Beirness have great chemistry. Have you watched Ron MacLean and the idiots (on HNIC (except Kelly Hrudey, he is great and knows what he’s talking about, along with Elliott Friedman is also very good). I think you’re totally wrong.
IF ONLY THEY WOULD JUST STOP YELLING!!!
I agree with you about that.
McLean is on last legs. He was in his heyday playing sideman to Donald S Cherry (Grapes) but ever since CBC/Sportsnet canned Grapes he’s serves as a Bettman shill.
What bad things should happen to him too?
Is he better or worse than Robin, aka Boy Wonder, such that Bettman Batman should ditch him somewhere in the dark?
The only “good” thing McLean has going for him is he’s extremely glib. Not bad for a balding and ageing 65/66 yr old man.
Given the CBC’s propensity for old white men - he could dance on set for at least another 10 years.
“IT’S A FAST-PACED SOCIAL MEDIA WORLD WITH …HOT TAKES!”
“MUST HAVE DELIVERY AT HIGH VOLUME!”
Seriously, really this is what things have come to in recent years, especially in sports media and news media, for the sake of ratings, for in aggregate more people any more won’t hear out somebody unless their speaking volume is higher and animated.
I tend to be the opposite and not the norm such that I am put off by anybody speaking at extraordinarily higher volume, akin to any given used car sales or late night informercial dude of yore.
Does anybody remember “BILLY MAYS HERE!”
(no telling how high he was on cocaine during all these years, which ultimately did him in at only age 50 via heart disease)
This was about six weeks ago, and with the revival of this thread, one of my off-season wishes has come true already:
Ah yes, Bradshaw, was tired of him over 20 years ago and his running jokes like his former bald stripe was BIGGER THAN A FOOTBALL FIELD!, alright, the poor guy has recovered from ill health, but enough already and hopefully this Super Bowl is it for Bradshaw.
