The TSN Panel Old Concept Time to Go?

Just wondering if I am the only one who thinks the panel concept has served its time and it’s time to go.

I’ve never looked at panels the same since I heard a former ESPN personality say what they are really about. I’d say it but new age censorship will get me in trouble.

The TSN one is particularly terrible. Few of its members have anything to say or offer much analysis. Worst bit is they are all yelling over each other, so you can’t hear a thing. Their inside jokes are annoying. I will say Henoc Muamba is an upgrade.

That summed up my feelings pretty well.

I have enjoyed him being on the panel.
Sanchez and Stegall have worn out their stay IMO.

But let’s all remember Schultzie, man do I miss him and of course we all do.

Don’t agree at all, not at all.

Sanchez and Stegall are pure gold for me.

I think this is the best panel format in general, which is a common format.

  1. Emcee / Lead who was not an athlete but is a media professional
  2. Two former players, preferably one from offence and one from defence
  3. A former coach

With former players, with very few exceptions, three is a crowd more often than not.

Like with Dave Naylor, it’s okay on occasion to have a second media professional, but in my opinion and unlike with Naylor, it’s usually not good when that professional otherwise works for the same media company when not doing the show.

To each is own.
I could care less if they are dancing to 50 cent. That is just one example.

Of course all the names you mention know a crap load more about football than you or me combined I’m sure with all due respect to you as I don’t actually know your football background and knowledge base. So I think you are talking “delivery factor” on air and yes, that is a separate issue. But it is all good with me the TSN panel, loving it all actually.

You guys are getting off the subject. Keep the panel or lose it.

Put me down for lose it.

Love it, put me down to even expand it from the excellence it is now. I tape Sportscentre just to listen to this awesome panel as it is. Love it!!!

I can understand if you want to keep it, but excellence, no. And I am not referencing their football knowledge.

The TSN broadcast has been stale for years with few innovations

To each his own of course. Pure excellence for this guy. But I’ll give you the last say, your choice.

The panel right now is very strong. Kate is the best host that panel has ever had, period. Milt is always funny, Henoc is an enjoyable shot of new energy, and even Davis Sanchez, whom I’ve never liked in this role, has really stepped it up and started providing substantive analysis. Throw in LaPo as the Xs and Os coach and you’ve got a great team.

No complaints.

Everything you say except one major difference in that I think Milt needs to go now and is past his time

Kate the best ever? Well she’s on a great road, but the jury remains out for me. I liked Dave Randorf years ago too.

Farhan also has a huge future ahead of him in the studio.

Sure, you can make the case that Milt might be a bit past his best-before date, but he’s still personable and able to bring energy to his part of the segment.

I liked Dave Randorf too, don’t get me wrong, but I just think Kate is the best in that host role. Farhan is good in other ways but not a great fit on that panel IMO.

Milt past his prime? Are you guys kidding me? He is one reason I love watching and listening to the panel, he is “Bryson like”, has character and with his background, I absolutely love that man for what he did on the field and his on-air character and thoughts. Keep Milt for pete sakes!!!

Feel pretty similar. I’m not sold on Henoc yet, but I’ll give it some time. Milt has to stay. Pure entertainment and witty in the way he gets others going. LaPo is the most knowledgeable, if not a media star. I thought that Jock Climie was the best spoken former player ever. Whatever happened to him? Sanchez the most illiterate panel member I have ever seen. He also handles the gambling pieces during the half. I wouldn’t miss him one bit.

I say keep the panel, even though it isn’t as good as the HNIC panel. What else are we going to do, watch dogs jump through hoops. I must admit that I watch the panel less and less, sometimes because of PVR’ing the game and sometimes because I am cooking dinner or making a snack at half time.
