Something that escaped my notice was that we signed a new WR the day before we traded Armstead.
Bryan Pray.
Guy has wheels at least (track star).
I definately see a difference between the type of player Roy and ET liked.
Roy liked 'em big, and ET likes 'em diminutive.
Pray is 5'9".
Lets pray he is good!

And I left it, just for you…!!

We have never seen Hill play in a real game, so how do we know how good or bad he is? Hoffart can catch, and he is Canadian–a valuable commodity. I would not get rid of Tate either, because as you have seen, you never know when we might need him. Just ask the Lions and Argos about that.
I was away all week volunteering at a youth camp so I missed the news till today.
I think Armstead was underachieving with the 'riders. He bobbled the ball the last game on returns and that alone would make a guy loose his job in the NFL (they do not tolerate mistakes like we do up here) It was well known that Armstead was not happy here in Saskatchewan, not being the "go to guy". Armstead is certainly able to make hi-lite catches that gets him on the sports news, but he just did not seem to be the game breaker in Saskatchewan we hoped.
Holmes loved it here in Saskatchewan and played at an MPV level for a couple of seasons. The Ti-cats did not seem to find a role for Holmes and his part time status made him sluggish I think.
Is it a good trade? We will just have to wait and see I guess. My guess is that Holmes is set for a resurrection and Armstead will continue underachieving.
Sambo my point was that if it truly was a salary cap issue, you cut not trade. There are I suspect at least 4 to 6 of the riders so called "injured" list that may not be really injuried and that be carried on the injury list to protect them from the limited reserve list. Nobody can claim a player off the injury list. And I believe another big difference is the salary they are paid. Reserve players I believe get only a portion of their contract, while the injuried players can collect full salary.
Jman - you have been drinking too much Pilsner.
Tillman pulled a coup. For these reasons:
-
Salary Cap issues
-
Disgruntled receiver- Nothing personal against Armstead but an unhappy camper in the locker room can become poison in the locker room and destroy team comraderie. Best to part ways.
-
Corey Holmes returning- One of the most popular players for the riders when he was last here. This is a win, win , win + another Canadian player.
I hope Corey has a good 1st game and runs them off their feet!!!
Well done Eric Tillman
Free Turkey for you on Thanksgiving!!!! :cowboy: :rockin:
The bolded part is very true to a certain point. If you have a quality player that other teams are interested in, you have to look at the possiblity of a trade. If the guy is a backup and is taking up salary space, you cut him.
Better than that turkey hootch your infamous for!
And it was Corona, not Pil lol
salud jman, I am just enjoying some right now!
