The Secondary

I can't actually think of the words to describe their play. Ok, maybe one: pathetic.

So I have to ask the questions: why are they that bad and are there not any better players available?

The rest of the team played a decent game. If Anderson wasn't getting lit up like a torch who knows what the result may have been.

And what's with him getting into Taaffe's face?

I say, cut Anderson, move Cody over and put Beveridge in at safety.

it's hard to say. It could be quality of players but I'm assuming with the amount of times they've been burned it's play calling.

I'm not trying to ruse people here, I'm just stating my opinion, but there are some backups on the Argos that are better than the Ti-Cat starters.

I'm not attacking or laughing, just saying my opinion.

Only some?

Can't argue that point TO. My question is why are they still here?

I only meant for the Ti-Cat secondary btw.

I don't know why they're still in Hamilton.....they're small, and seem confused sometimes. THey also have trouble making tackles, but that's probably because of their size.

i say drop anderson tired of his antics and put bradley back in there why hes hasnt played this year when was a starter last year is beyond me. if wasnt good enough why do they still have bradley on the roster for

By Taafe's reactions today to Anderson's antics, I wouldn't be surprised if he's benched or released.

does anyone know what was going on between Anderson and some of the Ti-cat fans in Box J? Looked like he was trading insults with some of the Cats faithful after he got into Taffe's face. It continued for the rest of the game whenever Anderson would come out of the dug out. If anyone was sitting down there please fill us in.

Somebody yelled at anderson that he stunk and anderson told the cross dresser to shut up.

Anderson also seemed to be having problems with Hudson on the sidelines. They were at each other for an extended period of time.

k well we all know anderson didnt play that good but why is this thread all about him? its called ticat secondary they all sucked today.

Can roberts even run? he looked like the slowest player i have ever seen when he was chasing fantuz on the deep ball. Pluse Tiller and Gordon were getting killed every time someone threw the ball near him.

I know our dbs arent the bast but i think its alot more than that because were not this bad. maby coaching?

All that work Kavis did for 3 years
training guys in our secondary was wasted*

When they slipped up and got uptight and anxious
he would sit one for a while and play another one.

and now Ed O'Neil is going through the same thing
working with a different set of new first year guys.

For some reason, experienced defensive backs
and former starters like Jykine Bradley,
Richard Karikari and Sandy Beveridge

can only get game time when someone
is injured or thrown out of the game.

They may have some shortcomings but
I am sure they can read situations
that crop up a lot better than neophytes.

P.S.

  • Not to mention the all star DB
we got from B.C. last year..Sam Young.

who Marcel cheaped out on
early into this season.

Top ten reasons why Anderson will be benched or released: 10. Your sweater number is higher than 10 and we only have time for 10. 9. You like chasing opposing receivers....from a distance. 8. You listed Minimax Anderson as a reference on your resume. 7. You have suffered severe burns playing this year. 6. You have a habit of chasing fire trucks because they are going to put out a fire. 5. You have received an offer to pose for the 2008 Firefighters' Calendar. 4. You show more emotion than the coaching staff combined. 3. Your bio listed you as 6'0" and 195 lbs. 2. You are not allowed to exchange pleasantries or discuss the weather with the paying customers. And 1. Only Bobo Brazil is sanctioned to headbutt anyone he disagrees with.

The DBs look unprepared.

I don't think the defensive coaches are up to the task. Their inexperience is showing time and again. This baptism by fire has put them in over their heads.

Anderson taking 2 - 15 yard penalties on back-to-back plays, both after the whistle.
As a repeat offender, and marginal talent he should sit-sit-sit till he gets splinters.

Yup. I was Lawrence Gordon fan last year, but that man is way too short to be trying to cover receivers. He looked silly on the first Fantuz touchdown.

It’s not all the players though. Because they’ve had a parade of DB’s try every spot this year. It’s clear by the lack of cohesion in this unit that it is a systemic problem.

I don’t think the Riders offense can take a whole lot of pride in their passing game yesterday (not taking anything away from them either)…the field was literally wide open, due to this confused secondary. Yesterday’s performance was as bad as I’ve ever seen from the secondary.

Time to bring out the axe.

Ah, the usual cut-this-guy/cut-that-guy nonsense.

Think for a minute: The Cat's secondary has been confused and giving up big plays all year NO MATTER WHICH PLAYERS ARE ON THE FIELD. That tells me it isn't talent. We don't have a clue whether any of these guys are any good at all, because it is clear that the system is not working. And that goes straight to the coaches.

Given that two of the three coaches involved (Taffe as head coach, O'Neil as DC, Butler as secondary coach) have had a lot of success in the CFL, draw your own conclusions. Their bios are under Team>Football Operation on the drop down menus above.

Do players make coaches...or do coaches make players???
Whatever the recipe the Cats need to take a broom through both.
Keep Cody, Beveridge, and after that who cares!!!

Me too, even a the beginning of this year. He covered well.

And Anderson, too, showed promise at the beginning of the season.

I really think these guys are more talented than their collective play demonstrates.

And when you have repeated cases of Moreno and DBs looking to the sideline for calls 14 games into the season it’s got to be the coaching and schemes.

If you ahve no CFL experience, I can see the coaches’ heads spinning at the likes of Joseph, Glenn etc.
