The Rouge in American Football?

What if the rouge were adopted into the American game?

When researching the rouge I came across these three news articles about an American college football coach (Charles West, who went on to coach the Blue Bombers) who wanted to adopt the rouge into the U.S. game. Imagine that!

I sure hope not. I doubt the NFL would allow the Super Bowl to be won on a shanked field goal attempt.

I like that the Rouge is a CFL-specific rule.

I wouldn’t be apposed to it being adopted by the NFL/American leagues but I think the pushback would be too much.

Instead I’d like to see the “Duece” from the indoor leagues implemented more. I think it’s where a team can score 2 points if a kicker launches a kickoff through the upright.

Oh I think that ship has long sailed. No way is the rouge being added to American football. But, who knows how things would’ve turned out had they started using it back in the day.

I want to see you campaign for a 4 point field goal like they did in NFL Europe

With small NFL field - kickers could put up 24 points a game in Rouge’s. Get it to the 50 get a point from a Rouge.
