#1 Montreal - had thier unbeaten streak broken. still played a solid game, and offence was sharper than it has been. #2 BC - 4 wins in a row. clermont is back. dickenson is back next game. easily the 2nd best team in the league right now. #3 Calgary - 2 wins in a row and stops the streaking als. played with heart not seen from them this season. DeAngelis is amazing. #4 Edmonton - Finally ended the 3 game losing streak, as defence didnt screw it up. wasn’t spectacular in the win tho. #5 Saskatchewan - have lost 2 in a row for first time this season. kerry josephs knee injury is a reason for concern. #6 Winnipeg - completly different team without stegall and glenn in the lineup. bye-week should help abit, as should baker. #7 Toronto - allen and avery returned to form. but then again, it was the ticats they beat, so hard to give too much credit. #8 Hamilton - 2 pathetic points is actually an improvment from thier last home game
note: winnipeg is ranked so low because they are honestly not the same team without glenn and stegall. they can’t muster up any offence at all.
BC Lions- Look like the best team even without starting QB- how come Wally coached teams always seem to have two quality qb's every year?? What about the other teams??
Montreal- has the bubble burst??
Calgary- inconsistent but won a huge game over Montreal.
Saskatchewan- Unluckiest team! outplayed Edmonton badly- refs and one bad play cost them the game. Are much better than record indicates. Joseph's health is key but Crandall is better than most back-ups in this league.
Toronto- Damon is back and the defence is very good and kicking game is best in league.
Edmonton- with Winnipeg's injuries- have to edge them out. Esks are not the same team as past years and are wobbling.
Winnipeg- tough defence but injuries to key players is huge. I think also their record is better than they are!
Hamilton- a sorry sight. What on earth is wrong in Steeltown. They seem to have decent players on paper. Maas has been a major disappointment and Holmes is UNDERUTILIZED!!!
OTTAWA- I'm going out on the limb here but I do not believe they will win a game this year.
With everybody healthy, I'd have to put the Argos in the top four.
The two semi's this year should be Calgary at BC and Toronto at Montreal with the two home teams favourites but not guaranteed.
I hate to admit it, but I’m still not clear about what power rankings are supposed to measure. It can’t be win/loss records because that’s simply “standings? and why have two names for the same measure? I’m guessing power rankings are to a football league what balance sheets are to a business – a simple snapshot of where things stand for a company (or team) determined by the balance of assets with liabilities on a specified date in time. In that context and assessing the assets and liabilities of each team on the date they played their last game, I think the power rankings would be as follows:
the following was taken almost word for word form tsn:
Power Rankings takes into account a compilation of invidual player grades. big games and level of competition. recent games, like a 2-4 record in the previous 6 or a 5-1 record. The grades also take into account which players are in the lineup to replace those who are out due to injury and are intended to reflect which team would win a game on a neutral field.
That’s a question you could have asked had the birds gotten their asses handed to them. But they were beaten on the longest field goal of the year at the very last second by a team that comitted no costly mistake.
Talking about a bubble in such circumstances is pretty far-fetched, isn’t it?
