the lions

…considering Sportsman saw the incident live as well and called it one of the most despicable acts he has ever witnessed I’d say his opinion is far more valuble than yours…

...so for those keeping score, FYB's opinion is of less value than RLR's, and RLR's opinion is of less value than Sporty's....Sporty wins...yay Sporty!!...

Hey!!!

I will have you know, my other alias is KnowItAll.

And doennnnnnnnn you forgetttttt iiitt.

Did you see the incident? If you’re going by what you have heard from a few fans and/or players, I hope your friends tell you they’re having a bridge jumping contest today so you can follow them and copy their actions too.

Have a nice day.

....so FYB goes by what a few fans (including Sporty, who was there) and players (presumably who played that day) tell him, and RLR goes by what he saw through his orange tinted glasses, hmmmm....revised score folks: FYB's opinion is of more value than RLRs....yay FYB!!...

Seriously… he tries to discredit FYB’s opinion because it’s based on what a few fans think… but we’re supposed to believe what RLR says? Doesn’t that seem a bit contradictory?

I don't care if you believe what I say or not. The issue is over, he wasn't even suspended. The arbitrator ruled in his favour and I will take that ruling over a fan's opinion anyday of the week. You guys can keep beating a dead horse, I'll look forward to the Lions kicking ass this year. Hopefully Rob Murphy or Jason Jimenez can continue the trend and win Top O-Lineman again this season.

I did not see the incident myself. Live. But here is what we do know. On one side, a guy who is defending the dispicable actions of Todd Bertuzzi, a guy who defended the kicking actions of Rasouli last year, and who may have seen the act live, from a presumably lousy view point (row five at BC Place) and notorious for defending the dirtiest actions of some of his teams players, on occasion saying “he’d have done worse” type of defense.
On the other side, we have Sporty, who also saw the act, and says it was dispicable, the referee who saw it as severe enough to issue the maximum penalty possible in the situation, the league which saw the act as bad enough to suspend Jimenez, every ex and current player I have ever heard comment on the video tape says it was brutal, and the tape itself, which, while not of the highest quality, and does not clearly show every detail of what occurred, is clear enough in showing that Jimenez’ version of events is an outright fabrication. If all I had were the video tape, I would have suspended Jimenez. With everything else, it is baffling how anyone can defend this.

I don’t have any numbers at my finger tips, but I believe the Lions o-line actually gets a very large number of rough play, etc., type penalties as a group. The Lions–as a team–were perhaps the lowest penalized team in the league last year. That was mostly due to a defence which rarely took a penalty. On offence, the o-line in particular? Not so much…

It’s a dirty job, but someone has to do it. And who better than RLR?

True…

....RLR is the Master Baffler...holds a PhD in Bafflology...

One point to add.
A guy who whined endlessly when Dickenson was injured on a play that didnt even have a flag!

It took him quite a while to “GET OVER IT!”

I'll give these two a rest from your scrutiny. I think that the JJ incident died for me the day of the arbitrators ruling. I didn't see the play in question, and therefore can't and won't assume much. So where do I rank on the valued opinion meter?

kel

somewhere out in left field where you can usually be found :stuck_out_tongue:

I would say zero!
Only because you don't have an opinion.

IMO its quote normal for fans to support their team and be biased towards them but their is a limit.....There are a few here who would be backing Jimenez even if he took out a gun an shot him.

As I pointed out before....When Dave Dickenson was hurt on a legal play where there was no flag, SOME BC fans went on and on about it. I do believe(I could be wrong) that the same fans spoke about retaliation towards the other player. They would not let it go when it was BC on the receiving end. Now that the shoe is on the other foot they have completely changed sides....

They support kicking and punching and attempts to injure when it is a BC player but don't ever tackle a BC player

Thanks. I assume you mean my socialist tone. I’ll never apologize for being socialist. Caring about others and the earth is what we do. Yup, me and: Tommy Douglas, Albert Einstein, H. G. I only mention these great people, not to equate myself with them, but to seperate from the many socialist dictators(not elected in a democracy) who were NOT, in most cases, good people.

Geez, we sure keep beating a dead horse here.(Sorry Calgary Posters)

I've seen a few "Dirty or dispicable" plays for the many years I've watched Football.

I was one of the many Lions fans screaming for Angela Mosca to strung up for his hit on Willie Flemming in the 1960's. I didn't take kindly to a few of Ed Philion's questionable hits. We all know AJ Gass and his record of cheap shots. I didn't like the block by the Calgary receiver (Lewis?) on the Edmonton DB (Wiltshire?)even though it fell with-in the "defined" rules. So I consider myself a pretty objective Football fan.

During the Jimenez hit last year, we were almost in line with it (It was going away from us, opposite hash marks). As I said in another post,IMEDIATELY after the hit, and subsequent flag from the Official, both my son and I said "He's gone". The fan sitting behind us said, "For what?" We said, "For deliberately throwing a block across the back of the defenders legs, thats an attempt to injure." The fan responded, "Did he do that? Isn't that part of Football?" As it turned out, he was Disqualified for Rough Play. Both my son and I were worried we would lose Jimenez for the playoffs, because at the time we thought the action was so bad Jimenez would get suspended. Well, you don't need me to recap the rest.

Point is, I am a BC Lion fan, always will be. You hope that if something dirty or bad happens, its the opposition that does it, not YOUR HOME TOWN HEROES! Yes, next week, I will be at BC Place. Yes I will be cheering for my Lions, but I think I can honestly look anyone of you posters in the eye, regardless of what the Arbitrator says, and say, what happened last year should never have happened, and we got away very, very, lucky.

Can we now put this to rest? Arbitrator has done his job, rightly or wrongly. Time to move on!
