lol the icon for it bugs me because that is a chat icon and if i didn't know better i would think there was a chat app. there is a forum chat plugin but it's not installed at the moment and i suspect it would be a pain on here.

The drop down menu you suggested would also be cool. Anything across the top would sure beat having to scroll forever until I see the Cat’s Forum.

i have a solution that's actually built in but not enabled. i just remembered it - i was messing around with it today in fact, but i forgot it allowed user-customizable category menu. i love the feature and use it on other Discourse forums, but it may get push-back from other users. i'll explain more tomorrow when i get a chance. basically it allows the user to setup their hamburger menu with their own categories, etc.

Actually it looks pretty good right now as it is except convert the Football to the teams drop down menu and you’re done. LOL.

The customizable menu is a great idea also. Whichever solution you figure out will be a huge improvement no matter what. It's all looking pretty good so far.

I have my home page set to show me latest so I just use the home button for the forum to get there.

Can’t you just set your home page to categories and then use the home button to get there?

You mean the chat bubble that takes you to the main board? I use that button more than any other button.

yea the bubble icon link is the same as the latest link, and that page can be set to your default home page in your preferences.
if people are using a functionality then we keep it.
i believe the default when a user signs up is the categories as home page. so it’s very likely a number of users, (especially old legacy members from the old forum) are not aware that they can change their default home page.
actually find the bubble icon itself odd more than the function it does. it’s not really the correct symbol for the latest updated topics page.

Yeah the symbol is wrong but it’s the most useful button on the forum for me. It takes me to the main board and the latest posts instantly.

i want suggestions for a better icon. i have a few already picked out but visual representation for "new" or "latest' isn't straightforward.
