The Hamilton Tiger-Cats Sign Kicker Keiran Burnham

I am STOKED that the Cats picked Burnham up. I still can’t believe BC released him and OTT didn’t give him a chance.

He is 100% the best option at kicker for the Cats at this time and I fully expect him to compete for a starting position in 2024. Burnham’s status as a Canadian further enhances his value, as he can contribute to fulfilling the Canadian-player ratio if necessary.

Here is a collection of statistics and tweets regarding him. As you can probably tell I’m a huge Burnham fan.

One good thing about him not finding a permanent home yet is it means the league has better kicking talent again. It was a real concern a few seasons ago that there weren’t any capable new Canadian kickers coming available.

Another great option is JJ Molson (yes THAT Molsen).

He played at UCLA and was with the Packers for a bit before being released back in 2021. I’ve been following his camps for quite some time now and he will 100% be making my FA Kicker list this offseason.

Hamilton did draft him a few years ago and should still hold his CFL rights. My guess is the money here likely isn’t worth it for an heir to the Molson beer fortune.

Honestly outside of his name I was never really impressed with his over-all stats at UCLA . He only hit 51 of 74 fga in his 4 years there for a rather unimpressive 68.9% avg . His longest successful fgk was for 50 yds .
Rather pedestrian by todays standards really .

He is 18/20 in the Nick Novak specialist camps this year with his only misses coming from 54/57 yards.

He did attempt 2 FGs from 60/62 yards and made both of them so his distance has improved dramatically since his university days in 2019.

He is also a great KO specialist, averaging 71 yards over his camps with impressive hang times in the 4.20 area.

He’s come a long way since UCLA lol

Sounds like he has come a long way indeed . Thanks for the update .

I think you’re assuming a lot. Maybe he just wants to play?

Quite possible. But you think he would have already been up here if that’s the case. I don’t think he was on any NFL practice roster last season but could be mistaken.

It’s worth looking into for the Cats. But we’ll never hear about it from Stein.

And the beat goes on .

If we’re lucky we’ll never hear from him again :rofl::rofl::crazy_face::crazy_face:

Sorry it was too easy.
Of course my joke was in a football sense only.

Gotcha… :yum:

It would be nice to see the team endorse players they’ve drafted in public. Molson is a great story too.
