TORONTO — Longtime coach Rich Stubler, who served as either a defensive coordinator or head coach for six different CFL teams has died. The 74-year-old had a 50-plus-year coaching career that featured over 40 seasons in the CFL, with stops Calgary, Hamilton, Toronto, Edmonton, Montreal and BC.
Got that right. He revolutionized defence in the CFL - several times in his career. I remember him saying the Edmonton defence would be better in week X once the players learned what he was teaching. He underestimated them by one week. And once they got playing his system - wow…
Thanks for your contribution to the Canadian game Rich, and RIP.
