Good history lesson. The English language has also prevailed because it is both the simplest and most precise and easiest to learn. We had a bit of a discussion on this in another thread a couple of months ago but won’t get back into it.
Spanish is by far the second most important language in the world. I have been trying to learn it better than the basics that I know but have been derailed by Covid and my inability to spend a month in Mexico the last couple of years. It remains a project. It’s funny how in the 1990’s everyone predicted that Mandarin would be the most important language in the future. Didn’t happen and won’t happen.
