The CFL and it's teams websites slow to respond during Peak times

All right so I’m trying to log on to the CFL website during the games on Saturday. The CFL website doesn’t respond
I then go to the Tiger Cats website and try month olds and try Montreal’s same problem

If there’s high traffic the sites just seem to not be able to keep up with it this is a major problem and the CFL needs to address it

Anyone else have trouble with the websites when trying to access them during games

Yes, you were far from alone, and here’s some more information about that situation and the temporary solution achieved on Saturday night, via YouTube.

The words “server cluster” are words they have never heard…well, put together like that its the first time.

Cluster…that’s a word they should be familiar with…

The easiest solution, at least in the short-term, would be to stream the games on the CFL’s YouTube channel.

I just put up a new post up about this very subject, for many simply don’t seem to know that there have been game videos on the CFL YouTube channel as well, including before yesterday’s backup plan for CFL+ with two live preseason games on YouTube.

Solves the issues for time differential too. I am a massive NRL Rugby League (Australia) fan but yeah - PVR beats getting up at 2 am to watch a game.

Of related interest to rugby here though going beyond and in general for any league or sports promotion, the operating principle is well at hand for more and better access to various sports that are considered “niche” in North America,
which the CFL is still south of the border.

For example for rugby, there was recently the following development in the US via the new Paramount, or whatever it will be called, once this massive media merger with Skydance is completed this summer.

The key point is that more money and exposure is flowing these days for niche sports than ever (i.e. check your FAST channels on any modern TV), for live content is king, or even recently recorded content to your point, such that it would pay to investigate where the exposure could go for those rugby rights and other niche sports in Canada.

Back to the CFL, I think they are tinkering now with how to augment CFL+ exposure and evidently as we saw this weekend, new plans and backup plans, such as via their existing channel on YouTube, to increase video exposure of the league beyond merely the volume of YouTube clips, which are generally ignored because we already all have too much content on YouTube that is not live sports.

Other major leagues, sports promotions, and even teams like the NFL, NBA, NHL, UFC, ONE, Formula 1, Glory Kickboxing, Real Madrid, UEFA Champions League, and on and on have already expanded on this front for such live video or recently live video to be easily accessible on modern TVs via merely a remote control, no sign-up, no app, and FREE.

Probably a response to TNT/Discovery covering English rugby now.

it’s more likely your network connection or isp. the chances of a bunch of different independently hosted sites being slow at the same time is very unlikely.

Or just Reboot…

ok, CFL+ (minus, at times) is not known for being on top of the technology, which is a bit of a shocker as they talk a lot about themselves and all the steps they are taking to be excellent. I’m watching the Lions game without a hint of sound for a good part of the start. WTF. It can’t be that difficult. Come on, new Commish, let’s get it going!

Many of us tune in (via terrestrial radio or the internet) to local radio as many times the “homer” local broadcast team is patched in to the feed to be the audio.

These broadcasts reflect on the league. Fix them.

Yes, SiriusXM broadcasts all CFL games and it’s always the home teams feed.
As for CFL+ I had no problem at all trying to watch the second pre-season game.

Fixed right here, for those in the United States

Not my first year. Same TV, same account. I can only assume that you never watched the Riders at WPG game. Bush. Others were a step or two up. MTL is an example of professional camera work. Are we promoting the league outside our borders or not? The league needs to be embarrassed into doing better. Defend the league yes, not that.

Never once commented on the audio.

It was only the preseason, and nope I missed that one, but I already commented about that matter.

If you can’t get over homer announcers in the preseason when your team is away, oh well, I guess you must have overlooked the entire history of football preseason games. Read that again, PRESEASON.

And of course you get your fix of homer announcers at home in the preseason, so your argument as if that part is revelation doesn’t hold water.

I think we’ll all be moving on with real coverage for the regular season just fine.

Plus now we know that the league has YouTube for backup too just in case the bottom falls out via CFL+.
