Last night the first caller said that the only way to get the Tiger cats to start winning was to boycott the games because Bob Young only wants to make money. He said that he got his information from the Spectator. I don’t know about this, I always thought that Young saved the team in 2004 from folding the team and was losing money or at best breaking even. Was this caller correct or just ranting because the Tiger cats are playing poorly? What’s your opinion on this?

Stop going to games to teach owner a lesson is as old as professional sport itself. He’s not breaking any new ground here.

Nonsense, I don’ think the owner is making any money on the Tiger Cats. If he is making any money, he has to make up for the first 10 years of big losses when they were at IWS.

CFL owners aren’t in it for the money … at least off the football … OSEG, for example, got the exclusive rights to the commercial/residential redevelopment of Lansdowne Park (and no, I don’t believe for a second the bookkeeping miracle of no/minimal profits) … I wonder if PKP doesn’t have long-term plans for a “mixed use” stadium development … OR … proving to the NHL that he can “play nice with other owners”.

The caller asked for everyone to bear with him because he had been drinking and the way that they played yesterday would force many to drink. Some of his thoughts made sense, but alot sounded like a rant and irrational.
Did he say trade Mitchell for Ford ?
One does not own a CFL team to make money. TiCats Radio Network should not take calls from people who have been on Jerry Springer.

Zamperin said something along the lines of what I and probably many other hardcore fans think. Bob Young is not purposely sabotaging the team’s performance just to make money. Instead the Cats have just not found the winning formula or combination of personnel that would have brought them a championship in the last 25 years.
If somebody wants to accuse the Cat’s top brass of incompetence, then that would probably be a legitimate claim. The results speak for themselves. However, attacking Young for somehow purposely impeding the Cat’s onfield success is just BS. Cats routinely spend to the cap, have made high profile coaching hires, and signed big name free agents.
Where Young and Mitchell have failed is in signing a true proven football architect who knows how to assemble a winning team and culture. Until that happens we will continue to spin our wheels in mediocrity.

The 5th Quarter is a great place for us plebs to celebrate or vent after a Cat game. Kudos to Zamperin hosting the show.
Yeah, the first caller last night was a bit inebriated and I disagree with his opinion but I prefer we have grumpy fans who still care about the franchise, which is better than apathy.
