A couple new adds, including a QB.

The CFL Combine presented by New Era is coming up. The scouts, general managers and coaches will gather around with their clip boards, stopwatches and notepads to make sure they’re getting the most information to prepare for the 2024 CFL Draft as they can.

Have to agree with Marshall on his comments. I saw OL as the way Elks would go AND because of the bountiful OL options available in the top 20 I could easily see Jones trading his 1st rounder for the right price. With Dublanko coming into the mix, that may be too tempting a target - he’s a Jones type. He drafted Judge so… Dublanko was in the REDBLACKS camp previously so he may not last long if he is the next “Alex Singleton”.:grinning:

Bombers? With Gray gone, Neufeld 35 they’ll go OL for sure but REC is another position they could target. O’Leary Orange is gone as well.

Good points. Should be a very interesting draft because of the quality this year due to so many skipping the 2023 draft for this year.

I think the Bombers are OK at WR, they’ll have Murphy ready for a bigger role.
He impressed last preseason. Ofcourse injury on any team could expose a lack of depth, so it would be good to have another Nat WR, but I don’t think they’ll take one early. Now OL, yes - that has always been a priority.

So, I’m thinking about checking some of these out. Where there combines in different locations earlier in the month, and now all players gather in WPG?

TORONTO — Winnipeg will be home to some of the most talented young football players for at least a few days.

Ah ha more CFL+.

We’ll see what CBS does in the US in the summer for this season. Live sports content is hot.

This sounds to me like a test run for hopefully an improved CFL+, which overall did work well last season but wow, I certainly hope they find something better to do with the commercial breaks than merely monochrome video imagery for what appeared to be a training exercise for some avant garde film project by some college student:
“The helicopter, we see now the blades spinning, hovering in serene contrast over the turbulent cycle of life …next we have …”

For those small few of you in the US who have not fixed your TV or other devices to stream live sports reliably yet, fix your TV now.

You have had it since last year to do it too, so enough with the excuses.

TORONTO — Dawson Marchant went into Waterloo for the Invitational Combine and left his mark.

The cornerback etched his name in the top five of three different drills (fifth in the 40-yard dash and 3-cone, first in the broad jump) to showcase why he deserved a chance to move on to Winnipeg for the CFL Combine presented by New Era on March 19-24.

There’s a beauty to the CFL’s Invitational Combine.

Every year, we see dozens of on-the-cusp football players take to an indoor field for a gruelling day of testing, measurements and one-on-one drills. Each player that sets foot on that field knows that it could be their last time getting to do so. For the select few that move on — there were 12 last year — they get to put themselves through the football ringer once more on the CFL’s off-season main stage, the CFL Combine presented by New Era.

A football combine is a beehive of activity. Simultaneously there are dozens of bodies cycling through measuring stations, testing and head-to-head competition. Before they set foot in that venue, all of those athletes needed registration and their hotels sorted.

I know the end goal isn’t to send our players to the NFL, but this is a good opportunity for thier scouts to see the capabilities of Canadian players too.

I do like how this is opened up to CFL fans as another experience for them to see potential new standouts.

This Thursday to Sunday the Combine will showcase our Canadian talent . The Tiger-Cats # 7 and # 16 picks will be needs or back up picks . After that , we’re looking at special teams and depth guys . Going back to Ray Truant , Steve Oneschuck . Frank Cosentino , … our Cats have found good Canadian talent . Some years were rather lean for the league overall . Some drafts are strong . Some drafts are weak . At worst it’s a crapshoot but we’ll get our share of good talent . Look for another Woodmansey and a Mitchell Price to come home :+1:t2: :+1:t2:
