Thanks Obie

From the outside looking in there is feel of professionalism that has been lacking in the football side of the operation for many years.

I am just feeling stable about my team for the first time in years, I truly think Obie deserves the thanks.

Kelly served Obie a slow, fat one right over the plate and Obie hit it out of the park.

Thanks Obie is right. Great job by our GM... we now have an experienced and successful QB to go with Quinton Porter's early promise and the potential to be mined from among the other young QBs in camp. This seems a really good mix. I don't know about the rest of the folks who visit this site, but I think Obie is setting us up for progress and improvement.

Couldn't have said it better myself

Thanks, Obie!

Good job Mr. O'Billovich !!

Now lets show our support for him and fill the Stadium !!!!

Thanks Obie! you can count on me being at the games :stuck_out_tongue: I feel very confident with my season tickets this year :stuck_out_tongue:

I felt this way from the time I saw the talent Obie brought in
to compete for jobs in his first Training Camp last year

Only his import D-linemen recruits weren't up to the job.

Good resumes but not enough push.

Obie will fix that this year, if he hasn't already.

Good job Mr. O’Billovich !!

Please, let's not thank him until we see the product on the field. The man has simply done his job for right now. Let's leave it at that.

What if Bellefeuille turns out to be the wrong decision? Or any of the free agents we signed? Or the players we let go turn out to be MOPs?

Before we fall in love with Obie like we did with Jason Maas, Corey Holmes, Jesse Lumsden, Casey Printers, etc, let's give this some time.

Why are there now so many threads about Obie?

Because he's finally cleaning up the mess the previous rejim left behind for us. Everyones always busting obies balls about making terrible decisions and ruining our team this off season and saying until he's won a grey cup he's done nothing fo us. He's done a good job this off season, his job's to bring in the talent it's beullfille's job to bring in the wins. Thanks again Obie,
Ticats/Porter fan.

Cause there ain't much else happening until training camp!

I have to admit that I am feeling rather optimistic about this season. (But then again....I get that feeling every February and March). But I do think that adding KG as insurance at QB AND getting Khari Jones as a QB coach should provide the Cats with help at that position.

Khari Jones ran a awsome short yardage set when he was backing up for the Ticats, they could have used that set last season. great moves by Obiewon

The man is doing what paid to do ..
I see no reason to thank him yet ..
When we win a grey cup and start selling out the year after I'll buy him beer and thank him..
Right now there still work to do and once it done we can thank him then..

Again you with this win a grey cup or you're nothing to me garbage. They don't just fall out of the sky, they take years of preparation to achieve and Obies only in his second year and already the roster is looking good. Yes there's still some work to do but we have well over a month to sign people before the draft and already our teams starting to look deadly. Then when we get to the draft we have a 1st pick a 3rd pick and a 9th pick, we may even trade 1 of the picks for a proven starter from another team. We're looking good going into this season for once, so IMO Obie deserves thanks.

I always feel it’s good practice to thank someone for doing their job well. Good manners too. In business, if you don’t ever thank your employees for doing a good job because they have not yet attained the ultimate pinnacle of achievement, you may never be thanking them at all, and for reasons they may not be able to control. That is not motivating, it’s de-motivating. What’s wrong with appreciating things done well? Even little things? It isn’t a sign of machismo to avoid thanking someone for doing something because “it’s their job, they get paid to do it”… it’s just lack of appreciation. Appreciating staff, or customers, or suppliers, or whoever, builds motivation, loyalty and future effort. Far better to thank people too often rather than too little.

Similar in sports… Obie’s doing very good work. He gets paid to do it, and as far as I’m concerned he deserves thanks for doing it well. He certainly has mine.

How do you know he's cleaned up this mess? Again, how many games have we played? How many games have we won?

We are not busting him for bad moves. We are busting fans like you because you think that everything he has done is great.

He's done his job this offseason. What if none of these moves pan out? You will be the first one to criticize him.

How can you thank a guy who's done his job and it takes a season to tell if he has done it well?

Have we not learned from the last 3 years to wait? We all thought they were going to be great the past 3 years and we always got burned.

Just because Obie has been successful in the past in this league, doesn't mean he can do the same thing with us.

Please hold your butt kissing until the end of the season!

I agree with Onknight 100%. Obie is supposed to build a team that can contend for a Grey Cup. Even if we make the playoffs this year and lose, I will be really mad.

I want to win a Grey Cup and if that's not Obie's or any fans objective, then you don't know sports. Obie can put together a good team but if they can't close it out then he still hasn't done his job properly.

This season can be an 8-10 win season or a 3-5 win season. I don't want to go through another <5 win season again.

I want to win as badly as the next guy but Obie is just doing his job people!

Why is there such a love for Obie? He's been good in the past put he hasn't proved himself yet in Hamilton.

lol you mean true fans like me that'll never ditch the ticats? Mad that I don't believe in the Ticats curse like everyone else where if we bring a proven player in as soon as he slips a ticat jersey on he's garbage? Facts are facts bro, Obie knows what he's doing he's not picking random people up off the streets to play for us. Most of them are proven players and if they aren't we have a fantastic coaching staff to guide them along. The seasons looking good wether you wanna believe it or not. You sit at home playing your lil odds game tryna calculate wether every single position is filled with the best player possible and not attend a single game until they rack up 10 wins and I'll be at every1 game losing my voice for the team. Deal?

Pesimists are really annoying on forums and in real life, they're the kind of people you wanna steer clear of because they're a total buzz kill. Take it easy and show some faith. Ticats are improving this off-season and if we were all pessimists there wouldnt be a single fan in the stands until they're in the playoffs. Bring your annoying nothings ever gunna work out, show me and I'll believe you attitude to the Argo's, that's more their style. THANKS OBIE!!! DONT LISTEN TO THEM, THEY DONT REPRESENT THE TRUE TICAT FANS!

Tell me this isn’t a good job. Bringing in arguably the best defensive coodinator in this league. Bringing in one of the top offensive coordinators in this league. Bringing in a Veteran QB as QB Coach so the QB’s get a coach of their own. Signing Great LB’s Otis Floyd and Agustin Barrenachea who are both proven linebackers. Re-signing Nick Setta, Arguably our most consistant player. Signing WR’s Johnie Morant and Willie Quinnie (Quinnie was good when he was first here and burst onto the AFL scene with 30 receiving TD’s.) Signing Veteran QB and 2007 Eastern MOP Kevin Glenn. Signing Coveted OT Alexandre Gauthier whom helps the ratio and is a proven OL. Signing DE Brandon Guillory which everyone thought would be impossible since he was getting offers from the NFL. He FINALLY cut Printers after 2 disappointing seasons filled with interceptions, fumbles and injuries and the heavy preasure on us to start him because of his 500k contract. Lumsden gave us the finger and left us, that wasn’t Obie’s fault, he offered Lumsden multiple contracts and reportedly one on the first day of free agency through a phone call which Lumsden failed to return and thus signed with the Eskimos. Save your pessimism for someone who actually wants to hear it, perhaps a scientist or a doomsday enthusiast.
