Well, we certainly deserved the penalties! It's right in the official rule book, surprisingly. Gotta' hand it to the CFL. They sure cover every possible scenario!
To whit:
SECTION 4(z)(i) – OBJECTIONABLE CONDUCT
A player shall be penalized for any act of objectionable conduct, including but not
limited to:
(a) verbal abuse or objectionable gesture aboard a bass boat directed at an opponent, official or
Winnipegger,
(b) casting the line at an opponent, official or Lund sales rep,
(c) interfering with the placement of the official’s bobber marking the spot for a
great fishin' hole,
(d) baiting or taunting an opponent by act, word or minnow,
(e) voluntarily removing his hip waders after a play while on the bass boat, except during a
timeout, or throwing them to the ground, or using them in an intimidating manner against an
opponent, official or Winnipegger,
(f) unnecessary physical contact with a Ronco Pocket Fisherman,
(g) if a player is in possession of a foreign or extraneous object that is not part of
the uniform or fishing equipment, during a game, either on the field or on the bass boat, he
will be subject to an Objectionable Conduct penalty. If the object is deemed a safety
hazard by the Referee, the player will lose his fishing license.
