Tate remains #1

The Calgary Stampeders returned to practice after their bye week Sunday and for the first time in a long time had all three quarterbacks throwing.

With both Drew Tate and Kevin Glenn healthy enough to practice, the Stampeders QB depth chart became a little clearer.

Head coach John Hufnagel said that Tate is the team's No. 1 quarterback, while sophomore sensation Bo Levi Mitchell returned to third string.

Having Tate throw is a good sign for Calgary, but the 28-year-old still said he still has to be careful throwing this week, not wanting to burn himself out before the game.

Calgary hosts the Saskatchewan Roughriders Friday to conclude Week 7.

Ya and like his two previous games against the Riders he will more then likely be back on the injury list after the game. The real question is can he finish?

^^ He’s not Buck Pierce yet but he’s on the same path.

He hasn’t been healthy long enough to even get to a comparison point.

As a Rider fan I rather he starts. I think he has a slight ego problem and can allow pressure effect him negatively. The way our defense has been playing and adjusting lately it could be a looooooong night for Mr.Tate

Exactly, his hot head works against him.

We should all thank Calgary for throwing up a giant sign to the RedBlacks that says "Take one of our Quarterbacks. We are sticking with Tate, no matter what."

I know Hamilton wants to keep Dan LeFevour, and I bet Collaros and Wily want to be kept by their respective teams as well.

Don’t forget Winnipeg is desparate for a QB , and may swing a trade, which would be better than getting nothing in return.

Montreal could also be in the hunt. AC can’t play forever.

Yes, for sure , if Tate goes down again it will seal his fate. But ,not sure the Bombers could stomach another Buck :?

If they keep all three and protect one, they will have two left for next season. If they trade someone and protect someone, they’ve got one left for next season.

Protect Mitchell and you’ve got either Tate or Glenn next year still.

except Glenn is a FA

Interesting. Ottawa may end up with a fairly strong stable at Q.B. They can pick 2 and then get Glenn later with a little Eskimo and Stamps style collusion before Feb 15. Can the Stamps protect Glenn if he is becomming a free agent a couple months after the draft, or any other player on any team with that situation for that matter?

Which also means he won’t be worth anything on the trade market right now. That means you can trade Tate or Mitchell.

That makes sense, if someone will give you something for Tate. I’m sure they could get something for Mitchell, but it’d be crazy to trade him unless they have someone good stashed away somewhere.

Nothing beats Hamilton and Edmonton with the Jason Maas ,fiasco. That was bush !

Yes they can, as he would be under contract until FA season kicks in…but they won’t. They have made it clear that they want to build for a long term future with a younger QB.

Tate was supposed to start for the Stamps this week. Now apparently he's suffered a setback and Glenn may get the start. This guy makes Buck look like Cal Ripken.

Where did you get that? I haven’t seen that anywhere … yet!

:cowboy:

CHUCKLE,LOL…Don’t remind me…That one turned out WELL!!!..NOT!!!..They could have traded us RAY Instead…BUT NO!!!We got stuck with the ultimate BOOBY PRIZE!!!
Mass was way, way, way, way beyond HORRIBLE!!!GOD was he ever friggin AWFUL!!!name should have been…JASON MISS… :thdn: :thdn: :thdn: :thdn: :thdn: :thdn: :thdn: :thdn: :thdn: :thdn: :thdn: :thdn:  :x

Calgary, what a QB factory. Got to give it to Hufnagel and Dickinson; they seem able to make pretty much any QB look good in their offense.
