.....I have to confess i don't know what all the fuss is about regarding the name....Jealousy...perhaps...Hating to see that a lot of early prognostications for the Bombers this year, by so-called experts were way off base....perhaps...The BigBlue continue to get little respect....They are definitely still on their way to earning it...BUT c'mon...A nickname coined by a lot of up and coming players is worthy of all the fuss AND NEGATIVITY ???? ...I guess any team using a description like that for themselves should be put in the same boat (there's lots of them out there)...soooooo I'll just disregard any of the poo-pooing and continue to watch SWAGGERVILLE in action...Those who don't like it....TOUGH   :rockin:
I like it, as long as it doesn't get too excessive or disrespectful. Anything that starts to take away from the bigger goal should be curtailed, and I'm sure Coach Lapo would be all over that. He has said that it is all buisness during the week, and that he's letting them have a little fun on gameday. Nothing wrong with that, especially when we're getting results!
But man, seriously when was the last time there was a defence this good in the CFL?
When you walk the walk as well as the Bomber D is doing, I guess it's OK to talk the talk.
I don't know what the big deal is either. They celebrate on the play. If other teams don't like that, well, then, don't let Swaggerville make the play...
I don't hear the players saying anything much in the press, other than when asked about it
And who cares (other than Brent Johnson) if they're selling shirts? They're selling shirts cause people WANT them!
Interesting write-up on the Bombers in this article above. Winnipeg has done the talk and walked it I say; after the B.C. game they go into their much needed break and then their home game against the Ti-Cats on Aug. 26th. Lulay is tough to contain as he can do alot of damage when he's outside of the pocket. Me thinks Lulay loves being on the run and one of his receivers Simon or Bruce will be open at some point; that is a given. This game has a good football game written all over it for the most part. For Winnipeg; Buck Pierce staying poised - Fred Reid doing his thing - will be a fun/tough football game without Question for the Blue Bomber's D-Line.
First post this year and thought this was a fitting thread.
The swaggerville thing is good for the league let alone the Bomber faithfull. If I was a fan of another team I would be front and center hoping for my team to shut down swaggerville. It creates interest and for us long suffer Bomber fans it is long over due. I am old enough to remember James West, Tyrone Jones and the Benny Thompsons. These guys where in the oppositions face all the time and their defences where the intimidating shutdown type that brings on championships. What I love about these guys is that they are connected with one another and the passing of Richard Harris as seemed to solidfy this group.
AS much as Iam enjoying the the hype and the fun i would worry about a let down after a bad game and will swaggerville pick it up again. I would also caution the enthusiastic BB fans that this weekends game against BC is going to be a tough game. Late start, emerging offense and sound coaching all add up to a dangerous game for the BB`s. I dont care what anyone says, Wally B runs a tight ship and I do not think for one minute he has lost it as a coach. Lulay is a very good young quarterback and very dangerous and Arland Bruce is a good addition to a young receiving corp. With Brown and Smith out we will have a faster front 4 but less experienced.
We need a run game this week also
All in all, loving this season and enjoying learning from the posters from all the teams. My oldest son who was born in BC was a Lions fan. This year he is getting caught up in the Swaggerville thing and now proclaims himself a Bomberfan and will now join me and my youngest son at BB games...this is how pro sports should work
Nothing wrong with it at all, not saying I like the name but that's just me.Good on ya Winnipeg for supporting your team to the max
Jovon describing Swaggerville…http://www.globalwinnipeg.com/video/ind ... zqfnCcwbpJ
BTW, for anyone who still wants to buy one of the Swaggerville shirts the players are selling, they will be sold exclusively out of the Bomber Store from now on according to Jeff Bannon. I've also read that they are considering adding a second style to the line.
As well, don't forget that some of the proceeds from the shirt will be going to charity. JJ said in an interview they would like to do something for the Children's Hospital and they are considering setting up a scholarship to honour Richard Harris.
Both shirts are pretty dope but I bought a white one, (for white out potential.) Let the haters hate, until they can run with us it means nothing.
Here's a Swaggerville video, we should post ALL of the Swag videos on Youtube here!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSMsYrarjQs
Aww...see, you're just a little lost. Head east to where Dave Stala lives...that's where you'll find your Arrogantville
He’s not actually like that FYI, he just likes to talk for the cameras.
Well, I haven't heard anything of Stala being cocky before.. I would be inclined to believe, for now, that he is just talking for the cameras.. however,
- it's just not a bright thing to do at this point, and
- any time anyone mentions "Swaggerville" they're being cocky, but the Bombers are doing less talking than pretty much anyone else right now.
So yeah.. I'm not sure how him only talking for the camera has any effect here.. I still like Stala, but he deserves whatever's coming to him for these comments
agree with point 1, and no Stala isn't the cocky type. He's a really cool guy and you don't have to engage him in conversation, he'll find you and talk to you.Everytime they do the dinner at Jack Astors where the Ticats serve as waiters, Stala always sits down at every table without being asked and chats for a good 10 minutes, really cool guy just a little hyper lol.As for his celebrations and jokes, he likes to do things to get a rise out of the fans and his team mates. He also does this really funny thing every time they go on the road and it always makes the road trip videos, at the airport he ties a string to a 20 dollar bill and pulls it away when people try to pick it up.Again, not overly hilarious or original but he's a fun loving guy. He's more of a jokester than a fat headed football player.
oh so what your saying is…stala likes to steal ideas from the simpsons and pretend its his own? 20 dollar bill tied to string? ok mr burns.
ARROGANTVILLE? hmm… WRONG
How one presents him or her self to the world. Swagger is shown from how the person handles a situation. It can also be shown in the person’s walk.
Ryan: “Denzel Washington has swagger in all his movie rolls”
Phil: “You can’t forget about Al Pacino! He had swagger all over in Scarface!!!”
do u understand what it means… it means confidence, it means belief in yourself… it dont mean cocky however in your world if cocky means celebrating a sack, big hit or interception… then sure cocky but i have to ask… if what the bombers do is considered arrogant…what the heck was stalas hacky sack celebration? or a few years back when the ticat players jumped in the boat at canad inn’s?
He just likes to have fun wow, you remind me of a certain someone people try to avoid when partying/bar hopping.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f68VXKMZT1Q http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6t8zNU_d ... re=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsf8LnTh ... re=related
Sounds to me 15_championships that you may or have become a victim related to Skookism and/or P.U.D.
....so we are 'swaggerville' because of our young guns on d....I would venture to say after hearing a few quips out of the hammer by a couple of their ol guns that they should be known as 'slaggerville'....seems appropriate....
