Super Bowl XLIV predictions

"so ya think that come next Grey Cup folks down on the Bayou and and and over toward the Indie Speedway out by I74 in Indiana are going to drool over the Tabbies"

Well, you never know......after all, what does "cajun" mean ?

I liked the game the Grey cup was better overal but this game had a much better flow to it and outstanding qb play.

There was some great quarterbacking this game. The completion percentages that the QBs had must be very high, and not a single pick was thrown until late in the 4th. Both Brees and Manning did get enough time to complete their passes though.

There were a few too many commercials. But that was a good game that was broadcast in between that long series of commercials.

I also think they Grey Cup game was better though.

Congrats to the Saints.

I'm checking out the live webcam of Bourbon Street now here: http://www.earthcam.com/usa/louisiana/n ... bonstreet/

Quite a prediction, Bruce! Since you see, so well, into the future, what do see in 2010 for the Cats?

And the silver medal prediction from deerhunter deserves recognition too.

What an entertaining game! What a gutsy coach!! Pretty impressive half-time too. And, it all ends with a pretty good feeling for most who watched it.

Alot of the time Manning got was due to him being a master at getting his protections straight against any blitzes throw at him, I dont understand why anyone even bothers to blitz him even though the pick came when they blitzed.

And yes way too many commercials. It’s like TD, commercials, kickoff, more commercials, 2 minute warning, more commercials, 3 plays run - 15 minutes of commercials lol

This was a Great Game and Gutsy Game plan by the Saints

Glad I was Wrong ..

Also no question a more CFL like game with the running game taking a back seat to the passing game. Just enough of a rushing game to keep the other team honest, like the CFL, but the game was going to be won or lost with the passing game.

The saints have been a passing team all year long ...... some teams pass some teams rush

did you all call the san fran 49ers with montana ad jerry rice a cfl like team

ugghh ...

nah no point in making comparisons ... i cannot stand comparisons so thats me

Congrats to the saints

True enough Ryck, comparisons as you say isn't the issue and serve no purpose. I suppose the best way to say it is that teams in the NFL that are the winning teams nowadays seem to be using more of a passing game rather than relying more on a running game to move the ball up the field. It seems now that an NFL team does need a very good qb to win a championship.

Ya .. thanks for not taking it like i was picking on you or your post ..

Not at all, sometimes I think myself I get trapped into the comparison thingy all too often and yet that's what I tell other people not to do. In other words, just look at each league for what it is in that league on it's own merit. That's what bugs me about people sometimes when they say something like "how can you cheer for a CFL team, any CFL team would get killed by an NFL team". And I say it's not about comparing it's about each league separately on it's own with their own teams competing for different championships with different players and different rules etc.

Yup most of the time it’s just stupid things like you mentioned … and earlier in the thread where someone said the NFL is just about the money … well DUH all sports are … all pro sports are just another business and the CFL would be too if they had the fan support to bring in more money.

but all in all not a bad game … the saints are champs i was rooting for them …and The Who kinda did poorly .,…
but was a good game …the onside kick caught everyone here off guard …was good

The onside kick was a real gutsy call but something needed I think as when you're playing what is considered a better team, you need to be a bit more risky with some play calling. It was huge. Nice to see the kicking game be important in a game like this, not comparing the importance of kicking in the NFL vs the CFL of course.

Earl - do you really think the NFL is that superior to the CFL_ IMO- the Top cfl "Teams" would place in the top Half of NFL while the Lower end CFL team,s would place in the Bottom half of NFL _ article on NFL vs CFL note _after Tobin Rote tried to throw the game! _re entered NFL ( "CFL great Nobby Wirkowski""Tobin and John Henry Jackson had stunk out the joint in the first half. God, they were awful! Lou said to me 'we have to put on some type of show for the fans. Can you suit up and go out there?' I was wearing slacks and a shirt and hadn't even practiced that week! I said 'okay' and suited up. I completed 12 straight passes and then Dick Shatto dropped one on me. The next play I dropped to pass and a Cardinal lineman got me around the shoulders. I was going down in a weird way and tried to kick my leg out and something was blocking it. I couldn't get it out and came down and tore the knee right up. I ended up in a cast from my groin to my ankle. I still have wires in my knee to this day.

I looked at the films to see why I couldn't get my leg out and saw Cookie Gilchrist had fallen down and blocked my leg so it wouldn't move. That was the last pro game I ever appeared in."*

The fans came to the game expecting to see Etcheverry play, but had been disappointed in the first half. Finally, in the final quarter, Etcheverry came in to lead the Cardinals to two touchdown drives. Prentice Gautt dashed 73 yards on a draw play for a touchdown and also carried over from five yards following a Willie West interception of a Jackson aerial. The Cardinals other scores came on a 70 yard touchdown pass from George Izo to Bill Stacey and Frank Mesnik’s 20 yard run which was set up by an Izo to Sonny Randle 48 yard pass. The Cardinals’ Ernie Benecke kicked three extra points and had two “singles? for a total of 5 points.

Former Argos and NFL great Cookie Gilchrist was kind enough to comment for this article. According to Cookie, “Yes, I remember very well those games back in 1960. I don't remember all of the details but the Steelers and Cardinals thought Canadian football was a pushover, but we showed them we were tougher than they thought.?

So a game from the 60’s makes the CFL of today as superior as the NFL?
i dunno your post kinda confused me …

Noone questioned the toughness of CFL players and noone questions any of their talent they made the CFL teams good for them … but as a business and as a sports league yup the NFL is much more superior than the CFL but thats the fan base that does it you see the NFL has fans and because of that they get better TV deals and better sponsorship and can pay more so attract the elite talent that grooms for the NFL game …

I don’t think there is anyway to know where the CFL teams would place in rankings … but if your going by games from the 60’s you have to remember the 2 leagues played quite a few times in the past … only 1 win by the CFL … so that record shows different

Went to a superbowl party last night, I was the only one pulling for the Colts they are my NFL team.So you can imagine I took some pretty good ribbing during and of course after the game.I did enjoy the halftime show, along with the pizza, other junk foods and the odd adult beverage. Oh well it is only a few months until the Tiger-Cats begin their run to the 2010 Grey Cup.

Ok i was trying to point out argo QB-Nobby Wirkowski and his recolection of one of those games, To illustrate the Competetive level of these game,s _ check the link , very interesting, NFL rules at the time allowed Contact on recievers by D.B,s- http://www.mmbolding.com/BSR/Candian_Fo … League.htm

These stories are interesting, but remember also that in 1958, Avro Canada was developing one of the most advanced planes in the world. That doesn’t mean today’s Canadian aerospace industry is building planes comparable to those produced by U.S. firms (even if there are talented engineers at those firms who were born and/or educated in Canada).

Good Prediction! I’m a Pats fan, but NO has been my no. 2 just as long (42 years). Now that both my teams have rings before I died  , I’m a happy man.

Now…how many days to the 'Cats camp?

I’m gonna say 114 days.
