I have no idea, really, about why there was so much whiskey remaining in this barrel. The fellow, Jim, that gave it to me (sadly passed on now) owned the local store we passed on our way to our cabin. One Friday night we stopped for our usual $100 bag of ice (an inside joke about our shopping habits at the store) and Jim, always the character, excitedly corralled my wife & I to a alcove of the store to try some whiskey. Everyone that passed the store that night received the same hospitality from Jim which initiated quite the party in our little cabin community.
A week later I was hosting the annual snowmobile derby windup in my shop when Jim showed up with the gift of the barrel. I decantered the whiskey from the barrel into whatever empty bottles I could muster during the party while Jim passed out on a table (he had sampled a little too much of the sweet nectar).
I apologize for the long-winded explanation of the provenance of my Seagramās barrel but it brings back memories of a truly inspiring character. I can tell many stories of Jim from my relatively short time knowing him.
Another reason for the long story is to explain why I havenāt got a clue why there was so much whiskey in the barrel nor why the whiskey was the best/smoothest Iāve ever had (and youāre correct, it was more than 40%).
Brandon Graham is looking to have one for the road, win one for the Gipper, et cetera, in what would be his last game as an NFL player after quite the career here in Philadelphia since his rookie season in 2010.
And they still have that Pro Bowl in the week before for awful filler. Hereās how bad that situation has become.
Yep, whither UFL too, this real winter with sustained cold temperatures continues, back to common winter days, but try to get moving around more everybody beyond whatever else you do on non-gridiron-football weekends other than watching other sports.
Good advice.
And weāre back to NFL media week, media people making stuff up and pretending to work and partying like itās still 2005 long before people cut any cords, indeed five more days of all that crap even before all the pregame fare on Sunday:
No mention of Toronto though as that isnāt going to happen.
For several days now, I have noticed an awful lot of people still complaining ABOUT all the people who have been complaining about the referees.
Alright, that was last week folks, enough already.
Also check this photo, third from the right appears to have tuned out of the discussion of the call and to be ticked off that some bojack on the sideline already grabbed the double cheeseburger and diet soda that he had delivered for his halftime snack.
Ah yes, those media people are āworkingā hard like this during this entire media week again, yeah.
Well whatever this local and seasonal bug is here in Philadelphia, certainly it extends into the suburbs too, for I got on Wednesday and am still fighting off the cold as I see more folks than ever doing the same this week.
Thankfully itās not COVID or the regular flu.
Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson told the Philadelphia Inquirer that āfour or fiveā players are currently battling an illness that has been going around since the team departed for New Orleans. Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has told NBC Sports Philadelphia that an illness is indeed going through the team.
Anyway, with warmer, if not also fresher, air down south now, theyāll be just fine by Sunday.
it is only Friday.
I do not know how I made it through the week with no football.
Building the Superbowl Menu for the days festivities. Then off to the grocery store.
How does the list look?
So far hot wings and wimpy wings
Nacho chips with hamburger meat and pickled jalapeƱo peppers and grated cheese . Gotto go get fresh jalapeƱo peppers to make bacon wrapped jalapeƱo poppers
Bacon and eggs for breakfast
Sounding pretty good!
I remember watching every one of these. Chris Matthews was the CFL rookie of the year with the Bombers and the Super Bowl was the game of his life. Unfortunately he was barely heard from again.
Almost game day.
A tad over 24 hours to kick.off
I am so crushed. Our provider does not have a station showing the puppy bowl
I see articles about 100k eggs stolen. Maybe they will show up at the game, as āpresentsā for Trump
It is finally game day, a little over 3 hours and 30 minutes.
FLY, EAGLES, FLY!!! That is all.
