STEVIE BAGGS

Does anyone know the specifics of his contract . Is it just for this year ?
I hope not

Well the press release didn't really say, but I can imagine that they would only sign him to a minimum 2 year deal - this year and next with 2012 being a team option.

[b]STEVIE BAGGS SIGNS IN TIGERTOWN

Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed 2009 West Division All-Star Stevie Baggs.

Baggs, a 6-2, 240-pound defensive end was named a West Division All-Star in 2009 after leading the league with 12 quarterback sacks. He also added 55 defensive tackles, five special teams tackles, four forced fumbles, four tackles for a loss and one interception while helping the Roughriders reach the Grey Cup final.

General Manager Bob O’Billovich commented, “Stevie is a quick, high-energy player who will help create havoc for the opposition when teamed up with the defensive players we currently have on the roster. He’s also a great character guy who will be a welcomed addition in our locker room and the community. ?

Baggs has recorded 80 defensive tackles, eight tackles for losses and 16 quarterback sacks in four previous CFL seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2006-07), Edmonton Eskimos (2007) and Saskatchewan Roughriders (2008-09).

The Bethune-Cookman product attended training camp with the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals earlier this year after signing as a free agent on February 4. He has also spent time with the NFL’s Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars, NFL Europe’s Frankfurt Galaxy and the Arena Football League’s Orlando Predators.

"...One day after the Cards were humbled 41-7 by Atlanta, they called Baggs, hoping to re-sign him. But the 6-foot-2, 240-pound defensive end had already signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The deal, for two years and an option, reportedly will pay the 28-year-old a total of $400,000. He signed with the Ticats after the Roughriders failed to match the deal. The Alouettes never offered a contract, but Baggs was in contact with head coach Marc Trestman and defensive-line coach Mike Sinclair. He even called Montreal rush-end Anwar Stewart for his assessment...."

Always assume if one doesn't hear the details of a vet signing in Hamilton that it's two years plus a team option. It's standard procedure.

Thanks Mike!

The Best Signing of 2010

what a monster!

Better may be better, but in this case, best is best!

My sister is endorsing Stevie for mayor. lol.

The guy is insanely good and I actually quite like it that he recognizes the fact that other players have helped him to make those big plays. I loved his quote about our LBs. Classic stuff.

“Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder could see that we’ve got the best linebackers in the league,? Baggs said in the elated Cat locker-room. “Anybody doesn’t agree, put another set of linebackers up and let’s compare.

“Markeith, Jamall and Otis are leaders, not only with their play with they are the leaders in emotion.?

Love the quote! It’s funny though that IIRC, weren’t a lot of Priders were throwing Baggs under the bus last year for negative comments he allegedly made towards Chick?

Yes they were and I want to thank each and every one of them lol.

Baggs has been an absolute monster and so far is worth every penny the Ticats are said to be paying him. That defense could make some noise come playoff time in the cold weather.

Ray Charles KNEW strategy!
