3 downs, bigger field, more room to score, these are huge differences in the game, and they were made like that for a reason. These are the reasons the passing game is in play so much., not a fan of shortening the field. And I can’t believe we’re at week 16, already. Season starts way to early in my opinion .
It is called winter.
Do some research for what that means for 4 teams in the West. Might take you 45 seconds so clear your busy calendar and prepare a lunch and a snack and plan for breaks so you don’t get exhausted.
Disagree, global warming adds an extra month to our warm time in the fall. Doesn’t start to get cold till December these days. Nfl plays right through winter , they get cold weather in the northern states, and you never hear them complain about moving their season around.
Northern states are still warmer than Regina and Winnipeg. Global warming is no longer talked about the buzz term is “climate change”. You never know when mother nature is going to strike. Some of the NFL northern states also have domes ie) Minnesota and Detroit. The other thing is that Americans actually like football whereas in Canada, Football is on the backburner in the winter due to the hockey sport that is reportedly popular here. People will pay big money to see an NHL game played at Commonwealth stadium in February but no one would show up for a football game.
Several far northern NFL teams have a dome (Minnesota, Detroit) or are planning to build one (Chicago). Those that don’t often see a big drop off in attendance in December if their team has been eliminated.
In places like Green Bay and Buffalo, the cold is part of the fan experience and home field advantage. Still, those places are not as severe as Edmonton or Regina in the winter.
I complain about NFL cold weather games as well, although as has been pointed out, the weather isn’t as severe as in Canada. If you drive south from Winnipeg as I have done many times, as soon as you hit South Dakota the trees quickly become twice as tall for a reason.
Aside from one gamble in New York they got away with, the NFL never subjects their championship game to the cold. Why screw with competitive integrity and make it uncomfortable for the fans?
Those who are ok with the elimination of skillful play and players sliding around like new born fawns on a snowy frozen field I am sure would appreciate the NHL spraying the ice with oil prior to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.
Well the nfl is so loaded with money, why doesn’t the league pay to dome all their northern stadiums, and give their tax payers a break for a change, they can;t take the money to their graves. May as well spend some of it.
In Illinois, our government finally said “enough!” and stopped giving subsidies to billionaire sports team owners.
The Bears are funding their own stadium and will make a killing on it.
Well, it is getting warmer but let’s not get ahead of ourselves yet. We still get typical winters..
September’s are warmer but October has been typical so far in 2025 and unless we have another 1 in a 100 winter like 2023, highly likely November and December have its share of snow…
We aren’t at the point where October is at 20+ avg or March is like May…
And our major issue with climate change is the dryness causing more wildfires.
