Starting QB

Yep his numbers are right up there with Don Mcpherson’s college numbers.

I hope Timmy can put up huge numbers for us, but he is a rookie and I highly doubt he will be ready for any heavy action this season. I guess we’ll have to wait another year before we see a Chang at q.b lol.

Short answer: Maas

Long answer: Can we wait until fricken training camp and see?

Let the pushing of Maas as starter begin. May the best man win out.

Oski Wee Wee,

Yeah, Maas will start the season at QB. That's the politics of football. The guy getting the most money will the initial opportunity to play. But once the team starts to lose (even if Maas plays well), then the BEST QB will play... whoever that may be. Usually it's the QB who was a first round draft choice... but that's only in the NFL not here in the CFL.

I'm not sure how any of you people can evaluate any of the QB's that played for the Cats last year, based on their play last year. The season was a disaster and the coaching was second rate. No QB could be effectively evaluated last year IMO.

I have way more faith in Charlie's ability to regognize, evaluate and develop QB talent than anybody else's on this board.

I will not be so narrow minded as to predict who can or cannnot, should or should not be our QB.

I trust that whomever Charlie announces as our starter is the best man for the job. I also trust that whomever is released, Charlie has determined does not bring enough to the table to warranty being on the Ti-Cat roster. I am happy with this and wish nothing but the best for all of the QB's in camp.

It has to be Maas' job to lose this season. Last year was a disaster, but all the blame cannot lie solely on the quarterback. When Eakin got his shot last season, he played terribly, unlike the previous year, meaning there were definitely problems with gameplans, blocking, and receivers. I'm not even sure who to blame, because it may not have been all the fault of the players. Hopefully these issues will be addressed this season. Chang has no experience, despite his large numbers in a pass happy college program. Williams is definitely a project that Taafe should be able to help mould. Butler has experience, but must step his game up to make a statement in camp that he gives us the best chance to win. The problem is that despite our knowledge as fans that we drive quarterbacks out of town, we continue to do the same year after year. Lets give Maas the ball this year, support him to the fullest, and if he disappoints, we can say at the very least that he was given a fair shot in steeltown.

It’s the only sensible course of action IMO.
