Today April 27th, the Calgary Stampeder Football Club announced the signing of the 1st overall pick in the 2005 Canadian College Draft, Defensive Lineman Miguel Robede.

The past four seasons, Miguel has been putting fear into quarterbacks in the CIS. During his tenure at Laval, Robede was able to help lead the Rouge et Or to two Vanier Cup victories in back to back seasons (2003, 2004).

Calgary Stampeder General Manager Jim Barker made the following comment on the signing of Defensive Lineman Miguel Robede. “We are excited to get Miguel under contract and look forward to seeing him compete at Training Camp.�

Played in 7 regular season games including two playoff games…during regular season action Robede recorded 10 solo tackles, 11 assisted tackles, seven tackles for a loss for 29 yards, three quarterback sacks and one forced fumble…in two playoff games he recorded three solo, two assisted tackles, one and a half tackles for a loss and one quarterback sack.
2004
Played in 8 regular season games and three playoff games…winning the Vanier Cup for the 2nd straight season…during regular season action he recorded 18 solo, 12 assisted tackles, eight and a half tackles for a loss for 43 yards and four quarterback sacks, one breakup and one forced fumble…in three playoff games he recorded 7 solo, 5 assisted, five tackles for a loss for 62 yards, one and a half sacks for 7 yards and one quarterback sack.
2003
Played in seven regular season games and one playoff games…winning the Vanier Cup for the first time in Robede’s career…he was also named to the second CIS All-Canadian team…during regular season action he recorded 16 solo, 13 assisted tackles, eight and a half tackles for a loss for 41 yards and two quarterback sacks…in the one playoff game he recorded three solo, three assisted tackles, one tackle for a loss and one recovered fumble.
2002
Played in either regular season games recording 35 solo, 9 assisted tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, eight quarterback sacks, two recovered fumbles and one forced fumble…in the playoff game he recorded five solo, two assisted tackles, one recovered fumble and one forced fumble
