Sopik’s surprise retirement makes the Alford selection look even worse.

Presumably, Dickey was aware Sopik was seriously injured on draft day and might not be able to play this season, yet in choosing Alford and not Shay, he filled a want rather than a need.

Remember Dickey also dealt Judge for Flo, which was clearly not a football trade. Judge is younger than Flo, a Canadian and earns less money. I’m sure Dickey and Judge were not on the same page, so Dickey dealt him. Dickey had a chance to possibly recover from this fumble by signing Shay, but he remarkably didn’t.

I maintain that Dickey is not fit to be GM or coach. Should have been punted last fall.

If Bighill is training-camp ready and is willing to go west, who says no to the Stamps signing the future hall-of-famer?
