Spies at Ticats Unofficial (where is BYF's) Game Thread

So...unless/until BYF shows up with his usual stellar game thread, I'm teeing this up...

The TSN.ca game preview can be found at http://tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=327605 .

I am sure that this game will be a much closer affair than the debacle in Game One. One thing is clear: we need to get DeAndra' Cobb engaged early and often tonight and work Thigpen into the offence whenever possible -- halfback play will be critical tonight!

Sorry I'm late in starting off that thread. I could get that done now if you want. And then maybe this thread could be for pregame discussion.

Absolutely, my friend! Hence the unofficial label. LOL

Tiger-Cats vs. Blue Bombers: July 16, 2010

Tiger-Cats gameday is here again. And so the time to post the thread for posting about the game as it's happening has come. Those of you who want to discuss what's happening in the game as it's happening can post during the game here. We may not get as many posts to this thread as it'll be the "can't make it to IWS" crowd that'll be posting here. But here we go.

WHAT – Tiger-Cats Gameday: Tiger-Cats vs. Blue Bombers.

WHO - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

WHY – To see if the Ticats can rebound from last week's disappointing start and get their first win of the season, and to see if they can demonstrate how good they actually are.

WHERE - Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton, Ontario.

WHEN - Friday, July 16th, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

HOW - Radio: CHML (900 kHz AM) or Y108 (107.9 MHz FM) broadcasting from Hamilton.

Television: TSN.

Internet: Visit http://www.900chml.com and click the “listen live? link, or simply click here to listen to CHML now.

Click here to view CFL.ca's live scoreboard for recent games. You can click the link to view this game's scoreboard whenever it becomes available, which will likely be just after the opening kickoff.

Click here to view Drew Edwards' blog. Drew will probably be doing live updates during the game.

Click here to view the game preview on Ticats TV.

Click here for the Tiger-Cats depth chart.

Click here for today's weather forecast. At the time I'm posting this, there is a 10% probability of precipitation and southwest winds of 20 km/h are expected. And at time this was posted, it was expected that the temperature will be about 27 degrees Celsius, though it'll feel like it's 31 degrees.

After an 0-2 start, there are those who would consider this game a must-win. Others might not go as far. But what I'm sure we can all agree on is that it is very important that the Ticats win this game. Victory will not come easily in the next two games, as they will be in Montreal and Saskatchewan. And if this team goes 0-3, it may be hard to imagine them not starting out 0-5. A win would be needed to make this team prove that it is that good. Some might have said that the real Ticats did not show up in Winnipeg on week one. This game is an opportunity to prove that there is truth to that. And so now I say...

Go Ticats!

Here you go, as you requested: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=57635&start=0

And it's good to know we have a backup thread starter in case we need one. We have to keep the gameday tradition going.

The key to the game for the Cats overall is whether Mike Gibson can get back to calling something approaching a decent game in playcalling. That means more balance, more misdirection, more use of the halfbacks as rushers AND receivers out of the backfield, and better protections for Glenn. Glenn has to move the pocket more and get the protections adjusted better at the LOS so that we do not have a repeat of the Winnipeg debacle in Week One.

Indeed – I will confine my remarks to your official game thread starting…now! POOF!

:D :D :D

Good Day BYF!

Another great threadstarter as we wait for the kickoff!

Thanks. I usually get it done earlier on gameday. But at least I got it done before kickoff. And that's what matters when it's the game we're going to discuss.

Superbly efficient as always, BYF!

Let's hope Gibson calls a game worthy of a CFL OC tonight!

Sometimes, its hard to get out of the office in time for a 1900 hrs game...and so with some thought of how much info you cram into your gamestarter threads, we can certainly accept that sometimes these are going to be late arrivals...Good to know that Russ is on hand to support, though!

If we are as good as we thought we were at the beginning of the season, this should be a win for the cats by 2 TD's.
But we know that we will be luck to win by a point.

A win is a win I guess!

Wow. Thanks.

Let's hope Gibson calls a game worthy of a CFL OC tonight!
That is what the main concern seems to be now. Coaching. We need improvements made there, from Gibson in particular. We do need to find a way to get some rushing yards. Putting Porter in on 2nd and short seemed to help. Some good points were made in the thread titled "The Running Game." We'll see what else can be done. Cobb unfortunately does not tend to do well vs. WPG.

And hopefully the O line can hold up better this time, unlike in week 1. Can’t get beat in the trenches like that.

And it would be great if the D could be better at tackling.

And can Thiggy keep the 2 TD per game streak going?

TSN’s coverage starting… now!

I'm one of those who consider this a "must game"

I think the league this year is going to show a lot of parity. Any team that is not part of that parity right from the start is in a bad situation. Here's hoping for a solid win tonight.

I fear that, but just win baby is a mantra of mine. LMAO

Props to TSN.ca for broadcasting the Friday games in HD  My LG 23" monitor is rolling tonight!

Have to agree with that. I don’t think there’ll be easy wins for anyone this year.

Following the TSN coverage, I have to think what they do with Cobb tonight will be a key to the game. Lets hope they toss him the ball on an an end around or flat/screen passing, and hope the kid 's hands are up to the job.

A few tosses to Mo Mann and McDaniel, to take the heat away from AB3 wouldn't be the worst thought...lets hope Gibson comes up with his "Finest", instead of another "12 Year Old's" game plan (sorry, couldn't resist, pun intended)

Game on!

Looks like a good crowd at IWS as WPG starts on offence.
