Speculation on the Rider starting QB in 23

They did need some luck with the lack of skill they had

Well you can not say it has anything to do with the fan base who are in the top 4 fans in the league if not the best.

This. Not just a year but a year as dead men walking. Doesn’t create an air of stability… and who knows what the next GM will want to keep out of whats there.

Oday is the worst GM in the league

My bet for a QB for the riders is Dane but a low possibility or a young QB that is not played to much over the last two seasons.

Interesting take. Probably what SHOULD be the list but we haven’t seen much resigning from the massive list of free agents the Riders have. Most of their better receivers are on that list and its gonna be a long season for a QB without quality people to throw the ball to.

I think it’s as much about who wants to move to Saskatchewan or possibly playing with what they have if they can’t entice someone.

I wouldn't bet on Dane Evans

If the cats intended on trading him.onve Bo signs they would have done.the deal.within days of signing Bo

To continue to build around Bo the cats need cap cost certainty to be ready for free agency

The longer they wait the less value dane.has as teams know they may end up having to just cut him to be able to sign othet parts needed

You can pretty much bet that the Cats wouldn’t want two guys earning starting QB money under the cap.
You could be right. Dane needs redemption. He is a good QB who just had bad stuff happen and he showed how he can play when his head is together later in the season.

The other thing that strikes me is the number of FA players on both the Cats and Riders roster - possible they are working on a “big swap”?

You are just obsessed with Riders free agents. They missed the playoffs and were akin to what the Esks have become for a while now, last year. Why would they not look at free agency first. The status quo showed it wasn’t good enough. I don’t think they have any appetite for Evans and Williams as receivers anymore so why would they sign them? They will probably lose Sanky and another defender or 2 as they may want to go where they think they maybe have a better shot at GC, but that’s every year, every team.

Looking to the future the riders may have to go with rookies at QB it maybe the best choice at this time. Or they will need to give someone or two up for a proven QB. The number rof FA’s they have might not be reality. That oline scares the crap out of anyone wanting the job (including Cody). Fine maybe the guy they go with and let him grow into the job after all he played in behind that oline or does he not mind getting hammered in the back field.

If any sanity left they need to commit to Fajardo

Rider not in a position to be in rebuilding mode, certainly not if HC or GM expect to be back. They have a great QB in Fajardo

Thank you for your insight Mrs Fajardo

A good rookie QB would be near impossible to get signed this year

With tye writing on the wall that a bad start or poor season will see the HC and GM changed .... new leadership will.change direction.

We may see them go to a reclimation project or see if any current #2 or #3 QB's might be ready for a starter role

But a true new rookie ? Cant see any wanting to step in with the pressure of must win or your toast being before them

the Riders could have just saved money and brought in Will Arndt to play QB and be OC for what’s likely going to be a lost year anyways.

Unfortunately the Riders are suffering the aftermath of not 'cleaning house' after a disastrous year.....How the management and coach survived that debacle is beyond the pale....What qb. in their right mind would want to sign on there when it looks like they could repeat a basement finish in 23' and then can the coach and management ....which they should have already done.....After saying that the Riders may have to turn to the guy who helped put them in the position they are in currently ,that being Cody Fajardo, who they have lost all faith in.......What a mess........

Dane Evans has $425,000+ reasons to want to go to SSK

Hello - Trevor Harris , $537,000

Yep. Very happy we didn’t get sucked into the early bird discount. Been a long time but this seems to be the year to sit back and watch on TV.
